In my opinion, it is already too late in the summer to hike the
Tanner trail, which has zero shade. I hiked that trail with a group
of friends and we were blindsided by inner corridor temps near 120
degrees. The heat is a much bigger danger than narrow ledges, as
evidenced by Grand Canyon mortality statistics. Falling to one's
death stems from horseplay, not trail conditions. How much
experience do you have hiking non-maintained trails in the Canyon?
