Congrats! What is the young fellow's name, rank & serial number?
When can we expect photos to be posted?
You will love being a dad. I know I did, and still do.
True story. My oldest son was born in January of 1980, while I was in my junior
year at Ferris State (College, at the time).
The summer of 1980, I was working for the Mecosta County Road Commission as a
construction tech. We were getting some of our road gravel and all of our
bituminous from the same pit and plant that was actively working on the US-131
freeway extension from M-46 north to 8 Mile Road. As such, I got to travel on
the not-yet-opened freeway quite a bit.
That fall, the new segment opened to traffic. The following Sunday morning, I
woke up early. Allowing his mama to sleep in, I bundled my boy up for travel,
and together we went and checked out the new freeway. I left a note telling her
where we were and what we were doing. IIRC the last line of the note said,
"This is what boys and dads do together."
May you and your boy enjoy many years of road appreciation together.
