As an academician I do not have much experience or knowledge in the
area of grid computing. Still I believe, strongly believe, that after
Internet this is going to be the technology which the world will be
looking forward to.
At this point of time, when we talk about the Grid, and the
organisations, to support and promote Grids, we may find ourselves in
a chaos, what attracts me is, this chaos, as I believe chaos is very
important for the development (We need discipline/order etc. for
implementation and maintenance but not development).
I have been reading all the mails on this group and I have found only
Prof. Raj contributing, the question is, with 1374 (not a small
number) members why do we have such a quite group. Are people still
trying to understand what grids are all about or at this point of time
we do not have enough matter to talk about. Interest in the area is
there (1374 members across the globe). In both the cases an effort to
organise seminars, call for papers etc would surely help and generate
the momentum needed. People can talk about the technical, managerial
and business issues related to the Grid Computing, I suppose once we
start talking/writing/researching about Grid Computing the new
pathways would surely start emerging.
I am sorry if I am sounding too vague, but still I am doing it because
I felt like. It may sound as vague as it sounded when Newton asked
"Why apple is falling down?" which led to the development of science.
So, I would request the members not to shy or hesitate in contributing
a line or two to the group. Which would give us the momentum towards
the development.
