Deep Sky and Planetary Video CCD Camera

Welcome to the GStar-Ex Users Group where Members are invited to share ideas,experiences and post questions ranging from camera use,Deep Sky and Planetary,Video Astronomy and Processing Video Images.

The GStar-Ex Camera is a simple alternative to viewing and imaging the Night Sky providing Black and White live views on any visual display like LCD,Plasma or TV Monitors.The video output by the Camera can also be recorded for later playback using Camcorders (with video input),DVD or VCR recorders and Computer (Via Capture Device).

Excellent Deep Sky and Planetary images can be produced with post Processing Techniques which Members can share in the image Library of this Group

The growing list of Telescopes of different makes and model that have been tested and work with the GStar-Ex can be found in the Database.

G-Star Image of Mercury used to support Scientific Article can be found in the files section.

GSTAR FEATURES IN NEW BOOK > "Deep-Sky Video Astronomy" the latest addition to Patrick Moore's Practical Astronomy Series.
This book is the ideal reference partner to the GStar with many areas of Video Astronomy covered, focusing on the pratical side of creating beautiful images using image stacking and software enhancement procedures.It also explains the initial stages of setting up the Telescope and Camera, with useful information on other areas of Video Astronomy,covering focal reducers,barlows and eyepiece projection to name a few.
The book is very well layed out with 180 pages of text,colour images and software screen shots, offering the reader an informative guide into Video Astronomy which will help you get that start into imaging the night sky.
