The Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR) unveils its new
Public Gallery this morning, and the Minister of Education RAdm Teo
Chee Hean will do the honours.

The gallery showcases the natural heritage of Singapore and the
rich biodiversity of Southeast Asia.

A Southeast Asian Biodiversity Webpage will also be announced.

The museum collection shifted from its premises at Stamford Road (now
the National History Museum) in 1971. In 1988 the Zoological Collection
was unvelied in its own premises, and 10 years later The Raffles Museum
of Biodiversity Research was formed.

More then 300 scientific papers have been published by staff and
students, and they have worked with more than 170 international
scientists from 30 countries.

However, for the past 30 years, the public has not been able to view
the collection.  Finally, a small area has been acquired next to the
msueum, and we are happy to welcome the public once again. Hence the
name "Public Gallery".

Admission is free, so come on over...
