The National Library Board is carrying out an online Libraries'
Opening Hours Survey. This survey aims to confirm the findings of
the 2001 Opening Hours Survey conducted in February and March
2001.

Please attempt the short survey to reflect YOUR needs, so that NLB
can get a good representative of the public's preference on library
opening hours.

I myself would like to see Library@Orchard extend its weekend
opening hours. Been chased out of there quite frequently or raced
there after dinner to discover it has just closed!

Declining numbers. THESE spinner dolphins lying motionless on a jetty in
Semporna, Sabah, are a grim contrast to pretty poses of leaping dolphins in
emerald seas that we have grown so fond of. Behind the lifeless forms of
these marine mammals lie a disturbing story of human ignorance, greed and
sheer apathy. We check out what is being done to prevent the disappearance
of these gentle animals from our coastal waters.’

Stranding mystery. THE sight of a huge whale struggling to return to sea
while conservationists rallied to its aid must have tugged at the
heartstrings of many who come across such incidents which are highlighted in
the media.’

Nurturing respect for sea mammals THE Bajau Laut or Sea Bajau of Sabah have
a long-standing association with marine mammals. Living off the sea, they
count on in-shore species such as dolphins and dugongs for their source of
food and medicine.’
