1st August - Launch of “Get Close to Nature”
- posters to be carried on 51 MRT stations!
In conjunction with the launch NSS with HSBC will organise a series of guided nature walks for the public to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the Lower Peirce Boardwalk.
Series of Fun With Nature workshops all day. All kids, families and teachers
are invited to come learn more about birds, bugs, frogs, butterflies and
fish! Discover fun facts about animal ecology, conservation issues, pet-care
and teach nature-related craftwork.

The wonder of nature at Khatib Bongsu - by students from the Students Care Service, together with their mentors from the Singapore Management
University and NSS Underwater Wonders - by the NSS’ Marine Conservation

What is YOUR favourite Nature spot? This year’s poll hopes to find out the
favourite nature spot of Singaporeans!
T-shirt printing booth. Volunteers will silk-screen or block-print one of
many attractive Nature designs on your favourite t-shirt or canvas bag; you
can do the printing yourself; all for a small donation.
Shoppers delight! Nature books, t-shirts, bags, postcards – and lots more –
you have been looking for! Young Naturalists’ Kit – young uns’ can pick one
up from the Raffles Girls’ School booth! Henna-painting Face painting,
Badge- making Traditional kampung games of years gone by.
Meet our many Friends and partners The participation of our partners – Edu
Outdoor Activities, Green Volunteers Network, National Environmental Agency,
Singapore Environment Council, SPCA, Students Care Service, Sungei Buloh
Wetland Reserve, Raffles Girls’ School, Henry Park Primary School,
Corporation Primary School, the National Institute of Education, the Ngee
Ann Polytechnic and the Singapore Management University and many more – will
give you a good idea of what committed organizations and citizens are doing
to conserve Nature for all ages.
Honouring our most dedicated volunteers Last but not least, we will be
closing our Nature Day festivities by honouring a number of our most
dedicated volunteers for their generous contributions of time and effort at
a special Appreciation Ceremony on 3 August.

Ancient mariners' tales to sea-worthy vessels...Tradewinds to rare fish of Siam...Modern day 'ichthyologist', Mr Tan Sen Min - (Ichthyology: the study of
fishes) - shares his rich experience in the field, particularly on marine life
in Southeast Asian waters.
