becoming more and more commonplace all over the island.
This week's profile is on the National Youth Achievement Award, particularly

---> [3] Tiger Talk – JOHOR BAHRU, Wed 27 Aug 2003:
8pm
Dr. Kae Kawanishi who led the six-year joint research project between
University of Florida and Department of Wildlife and National Parks
Peninsular Malaysia in Taman Negara (1997-2002) is giving a series of talks
tailored to the Malaysian public on the research and conservation of the
Malay tiger.
A typical Tiger Talk consists of a 60-80 minute presentation, which includes
a brief overview of tiger conservation in the world and Malaysia; detailed
information, conclusions, recommendations, and conservation implications
of
the intensive ecological research completed in Taman Negara last year; and,
current and future activities beyond the research. The presentation is
followed by a question-answer session and an informal public forum where
concerned public can voice their opinions and share the experience and
information with like-minded people. While the presentation focuses on the
biological aspect, the forum encompasses variety of socio-economic facets
to
the tiger conservation. The forum may also provide a platform for a possible
future partnership. The advancement of the conservation science is thus
up
to the participants- that‚s you!
