Re: [hackingthemediavault] using the MediaVault as an ice/shout cast server

Hi, congrats on the first post on this group.

Anyway, I'm not sure if you are a member of the base MV group on Yahoo, but there is a method to getting IPKG running on the MV.  Unfortunately, the method has yet to be released. The method takes from the OpenWRT repository, so if there is a Ice / shoutcast server on there, than you can use that.

I really don't know when the method will be released. It was developed a bit ago, but there is no longer much activity with it. I have been trying to get it released though.

Dear All,

I have decided to retire my MV from its current role and rather than
just leave it gathering dust i wonder about putting in a smallish disk
and using it as a local ice/shoutcast server on my lan.

Whilst I am not exactly new to linux, I am down the user end of the
pool, not at the hacker end. The question I have is whether someone
can point me in the direction of information on getting started with
things like compiling software for different architectures etc.

regards
Richard
