Hello,
I wonder if other members of this group have thoughts about the
"attraction" of Half Frame. I think about it when I choose to take a
hf camera out picture taking rather than a tlr or slr with better
capacities. I think about it, too, when I look through my albums and
find something very attractive about the hf pictures. I'm beginning
to wonder if there is something other than personal preference or
habit at work. I wonder, for example, if zone or scale focussing
combined with a direct viewfinder (very good ones on many hf cameras)
keeps one's attention on the picture and somehow contributes to
making a better one. That is, the first thing that meets the eye on
bringing the camera to it is the picture rather than some kind of a
decision or action related to it like focussing or even making sure
the af spot is in the right place. I suppose that might be true for
any format (and I remember something similar with an old Kodak Pony
which was also direct vf); but, it might really make a big difference
in hf where the small size and ready availability of many exposures
also contribute to a kind of relaxation about the whole technical
side
of making the picture. Anyway, do other members of the group have
any
thoughts about this observation?
