I'm writing this letter to ask your assistance in identifying and
informing recent graduates and other interested colleagues of the
position currently available at Claremont McKenna College.
We are searching in the areas of Pure or Applied Analysis, Algebra
or Number Theory at the level of tenure track assistant professor.
The teaching load is 2 courses per semester. The salary and benefits
are competitive and the students are excellent.
As you know, the Claremont Colleges comprise a larger mathematical
community than may be apparent to a typical reader of our AMS
advertisement. Proximity to centers of research in the Los Angeles
area is another advantage of which possible candidates may be
unaware.
Your help in drawing attention to a very desirable position would be
much appreciated.
The advertisement is as follows:
The Mathematics Department of Claremont McKenna College invites
applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics, to begin in
the fall semester of 2007-08. Preference will be given to those with
research expertise in Pure or Applied Analysis, Algebra or Number
Theory. The position is at the Assistant Professor rank. The
successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in mathematics and must
have the demonstrated ability to maintain both an active research
program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching. The
teaching load at CMC is 2 courses per semester.
We highly recommend online applications submitted at MathJobs.org.
You can also send applications by electronic mail to
mathsearch@... or to Search Committee Chair, Mathematics
Department, Claremont McKenna College, 850 Columbia Avenue,
Claremont, CA 91711. A complete application should include a
curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation (at least one of
which evaluates teaching), a description for the non-specialist of
research accomplishments and plans, and a statement of teaching
philosophy. Preference will be given to applications received by
December 1, 2006.
