Javier, how do i make another tuning work in the software?

(i can see, that in the harmonica-window there is an option
called "custom", when i click on that i get the opportunity to choose
a .tun file. How do i make such a .tun file?)

Hello,

The only bug I met with Harping-Midi is when I play a Midi files with the
Windows Media Player.
Then Harping remains silent!
The solution I have found is to start reading a karaoke file(. Kar) on
Karafun for example or to play a MID file with an other midi-player.
At this moment I hear the two sounds, karaoke and the song read in Harping.
I shut down the karaoke and I still hear Harping: everything is back in
order: o)

sorry the system is not really clear, maybe in the future I could add
an interactive way to change the notes, for the time being you have to

Tim, this doesn't seem to be a very active group.  Too bad.  Kuell idea.  A group for harp players who use midi.

There are a few active midi groups, and one very active harp group.  If you're looking for a group or two, let me know.  I'll send you some.

Hi,
actually I'm working on a new feature that would help with that, it
recognizes the notes played over the mic and displays them as lines
over the screen over the normal bars, that will help to have a
feedback on how well the melodies are played thus improving the our
in-tune abilities, will have the new version before christmas,
cheers,
Javier.

Javier -

I am retired after a 37 years career in law enforcement. I've taken
up pursuit of the harmonica (both chromatic and diatonic) and was
fortunate to have run across your remarkable Harping software early in
my journey. It has been a tremendous tool for just entertaining
myself; jamming to some MIDI, and for more serious practice as I
attempt to reach "the next plateau. I've used HARPING since your
early alpha versions and I am grateful as it speeds my progress (when
your old - you need to speed progress!!:).

I appreciate your productand the powerful virtual studio world offered
by MIDI because, as of yet, I've had little opportunity to play with a
live band. The closest thing that I have to playing "live" is my
participation in a weekly harmonica workshop where I can 'jam' with
some classmates under the tutelage of Dave Gage. Unfortunately, Dave
and I seem to be the only 'geeks' in the class (Dave is the
owner/webmaster of HarmonicaLesson.com) and most of my classmates'
eyes tend to get all glazy when I try to tout the MIDI/ Computer
stuff. Their loss (and probably why I play so much better then they
do) -- just KIDDING!

Anyway, our workshop is just a handful of players but there is a large
harmonica following of the forums on Dave's website (the
HarmonicaLessons.com forums are open to members and non-members -
free) and I posted a plug there for HARPING and MIDI as an aid for the
seekers of song tabs.

If I were to list the products that have been most valuable in my
harmonica playing:

My father was Spike Jones' guitar player way back when. (So Country was part of my

growing years.)

My mother danced with the Dorseys.  (So Jazz is there as well.)

Been playin' harp since the early '60s.  First gig was in '64. I also play guitar, bass & keyboards.

Used to play mandolin, banjo, clarinet and sax.  But it's been a while!

I'm a Quality Engineer by trade.  Wrote my first computer program in Sept of '68.

So put it all together . . . Mix Country with Jazz . . . and Classic Rock (I grew up in the '60s)

Add technology.

There ya go!  :)

I gig with midi trax.  I play a lot of solo gigs.  The backing trax handle the load.  I add vocals, guitar and harp.

My wife sings with me on some gigs.  And I have a sax player, and another guitarist.

Both of us (guitarists) have midi ready guitars.  So he's adding in flute, trumpet, you name it, for

a lot of variety in solos.  Plus the sax player.  I pretty much stick with harp and guitar solos.

But I also play midi while performing with my Roland gear.

Actually, most recently I switched over to MP3 for gigs.  When I finish a midi, I record it as a .wav

and use some pretty hi tech software to edit it, and get the sound exactly how I want it.  Then convert

the edited .wav into MP3 format.

I have about 200 tunes now.

The plus is . . . all I have to do at gigs is plug my MP3 player into my PA, and I'm all set.

The downside is . . . I have no midi control of the gig.

What I'm seriously consdering is . . .

Switch back to midi.  Let the midi control my guitar effects (Boss GT-8) so I don't have to setp on pedals.

Plus it can control our lights, and our 2 digital voice processors/harmonizers.

But that means . . . back to the learning curve!  LOL.  I have't experimented with using midi to

control my gear yet.

Well, I think that's long enough of an intro.  :)

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Group!  Wayne Reed here.

Just thought I'd send an intro.  :)
