--- Javier that is the problem!!

I did not see it really addressed in the tutorial either he just said down load
MIDI files from web sites.

If I could get the MIDI on the desk top (or some other folder ) I am sure I
could get it in the program.

If I go to a web site that has a down load button I can click on it and get it
saved on my computer and I can get it in the program no problem, But if it does
not have that down load button is it possible to still down load that MIDI filt
to my desktop??

That IS the problem, and I don't understand how to do it.

I am sure this is a trivial thing for most of you but not for me.

The MIDI files on this Yahoo Web site do not have a down load button so how do I
get them from Yahoo to My desktop is the question.

Thanks

Ben

Hello group,
Another alternative is to download your midi file to your desktop (or some folder/directory) and then drag it and drop it on top Harping, that should work,
hope it helps,
cheers,
Javier.

Most midi sites that I have been on you right click on the file, it then says save file as and you save it to your computer.  You need to get the file on your computer first. Then you open harping then in harping you open the file.  There is a tutorial on harping on the web.  I think that if you watched it, it would help you.

There are 1000's of midi files available on the internet.
I believe that Band-in-a-box will convert mp3 to midi....
Maybe someone that is more familiar with Band-in-a-box
will comment.

From the PGMusic web site:
In Band-in-a-Box 2006 and higher, you can use the
Audio | Import audio... menu item to do import a variety
of different audio file types, including MP3, WAV,
WMA, and CD Audio.

I believe that once you import something into B-i-a-b
you can then export it as midi.  I'm not a B-i-a-b user;
so I don't know who well this works.

You're best bet for popular songs is an internet search
for "midi files"

Hello Javier,

I have used the FourKey as well as made some tuning-files myself.
Everything is ok and great!

But, is there any possiblity to mark a reed with valves (in the
tuning file)? So that one can have tabs and everything also with
other valved tuning then Richter?

Regards
Knud

Hey Stan,
First of all thanks fo registering, I appreciate it, and second I have
to apoligize because those files were no longer available since the
time I changed the web page, now you can get them from:
http://www.harpingmidi.com/tutorials/index.html

Anyway they are quite old, for a better view of what you can do with
Harping please go to the just uploaded tutorial on playing La Cucaracha:
http://harpingmidi.com/tutorials/tutorial1.html
(excuse my bad english on the video)

please let me know if have any problem,
cheers,
J.

Hello Francis,
Please can you tell me what is your computer operating system you're
using? I tried the installation on a windows 2000, XP and Vista and
works fine.
The procedure should be to download the file called harpingSetup.msi,
save it into a known location (try an empty directory maybe there as
mixture of versions) and then just double click it, if you can take a
screen snapshot would be great.
cheers,
J.

Javier,
I downloaded the files for the newer version of Harping MIDI.  However, it reaches a point where it asks me to insert the disc or other source.  It is looking for the file "hrpSetup.msi".  the files I downloaded are titled HarpingSetup.  Consequently, I've been unable to complete the installation.  Suggestions?
Francis

Javier,

Did you ever consider adding melodica support for Harping? You already
have a piano. If you would consider it, I'd suggest:

1. compact Hohner Soprano melodica -- Range C3-C5
2. compact Hohner Alto melodica -- Range F2-F4
3. HM 26 Soprano melodic -- Range B2-C5
4. HM 32 -- Range F2-C5
5. HM36 -- Range F2-E5

Or just have the ability to adjust the piano range?

What do you think? It would help a person figure out a solo.

I've added two more files to the group:

Blues Riffs - C Diatonic

SiBeag SiMor - G Melody - this midi uses all three octaves. Good for
working on your tone production.

Hello Knud,
I just uploaded a slightly modified version of Harping with the
FourKey tuning built in, you can download it as usual from:
http://www.harpingmidi.com/download.html

In any case here is an example of a tuning file if you want to
experiment with other ones:

;
; Seydel Zirkular/Circular
; Zirkular C
;
DIATONIC
NAME Seydel Circular

BLOW C E G Bb D F A C E G
DRAW D F A C E G Bb D F A

just have a plain text file with the text above and that's it,
cheers,
Javier.

Hi, Javier, i didn't see your answer before. Sorry, it took so long. I'm very
interested!

The tuning i would like to use is the Fourkey-tuning  (from Andy
Newton, Jazzmaan use it).

It can be found here:

http://www.seydel1847.de/epages/Seydel.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Seydel/Products/10201(sp)&ViewAction=ViewHarpConfigurator
(click "continue", choose "Four Key", click continue - then you have it.)

Here is an article about it from Andy:
http://www.harmonicasessions.com/oct07/Newton.html

Hi,
the idea is to create a text file with the description, I must say it
might be cumbersome the first time, if you tell me what tuning and
layout you want to add I can create it for you,
cheers,
J.

called "custom", when i click on that i get the opportunity to choose
a .tun file. How do i make such a .tun file?)
