I am sad to say that my employer is equally determined to get rid of the
mainframe. Even the concept of server consolidation with Linux has had
no appeal to them even in the face of millions of dollars in savings
from doing so. Much of the opposition to the mainframe has been the
result of decisions made by the mainframe group over the years that
still plague us. No recognition that these problems are not inherent in
the mainframe but are our internal problems that can be fixed seems to
get through :'( . I know because I have tried and been told to "shut up."
