What did the Ancient Egyptians feed their horses?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2423 of 2502 |
Done a search online and can find nothing on what the AE actually fed
their horses. found one reference that Ramses II complained that one
prince whose stables he captured starved his horses (maybe from a
siege), didn't feed them right, but no indication what that should be.

Anyone have any ideas on this? and what kind of treats also?
obviously they did not have carrots during the New Kingdom.
Found some references they may have had apples by then. but probably
up in delta, not in Upper E, around Amarna.

Figs would have been messy (found one modern reference for feeding
horses figs, melon too) . Did they have radishes or something else
like it?

Found nothing in my previous research in libraries and other books on AE.

Thanks for any help on this. Doing research for my novels.
