Hello,

another question.

I try the last version of Hot Potatoes 6.3.0.4 and I note that the files htm
don't work with IE8 (Jmix, Jmatch) but very good with Google Chrome. Are you
noting the same to you ?

Old files work very good with IE8

IE will often "protect" you from executing JavaScript in the context of
your local computer, unless you tell it to allow the JavaScript to run.
It doesn't usually protect you in the same way from JavaScript on the web.

Is it possible to set the Hot Potato quiz so that only one question will show at

This tutorial shows you how to edit the source files to make this happen:

<http://hotpot.uvic.ca/howto/hacking_workshop/task_08_1.htm>

If you haven't edited source files before, you'll probably want to start
from the beginning of the tutorial.

Hi,

This is only question of curiosity.

I am working on memory excersise. If I change colour in JMatch (Link colour an Visited link colour), all is OK. But if I want to change the colour or add a picture in code (a: visited and a: hover), nothing changes.

Have any idea why?

a: visited{

                color: #808080;

}

a:hover{

                background-image: url(apple-vt.gif);

}

this change does not shows in browser!

Thank you!

Hi Natasa,

Michael Rottmeier's jMemory adaptation uses the colours you set for the links
and visited links to control the colours of the squares in the memory exercise.

The visited link colour will be the colour of the squares before the mouse is
hovered over them. The link colour will be the colour the square changes to
when you pass the mouse over it, and also the colour of the background when the
square is clicked upon.

Either the title or text colour (not sure which as in my exercises both are the
same) control the colour of the "jmemory" caption which appears on the squares
and also of the colour of any text you use for a word that is part of a pair.

I hope this helps.

Deborah

HI, Deborah,

Thanks for your answer, but I did knew all this. I was curious because when trying to change colour in code, this does not affect - there is no change. I know I have to change it in the program, but why the other way does not work?

Or in case I would like to choose a simple picture as a background, I cannot do it.

regards, natasa

This JavaScript is what changes the colour of the squares:

function Highlight(id){
	 if (M[id][1][1] == 0){

}

function Unhighlight(id){

Hi Natasa

As far as I can see, your page contains only one anchor (a) element, and
that is to download the flash player. So, the css selectors a:visited
and a:hover are only going to affect that one link (and that link
appears only if you don't have a recent version of Flash installed).
That's why you're not seeing any effect.

Michael is using javascript to modify the colours of the blocks in the
table, if that is what you're asking about. Here is the code which is
doing that:

function Highlight(id){
    if (M[id][1][1] == 0) {
      document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#ffffff';
    }
}

function Unhighlight(id){
    switch (M[id][1][1]) {
      case 0 :
        document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#c0c0c0'; break;
      case 1 :
        document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#ffffff'; break;
    }
}

Hi Natasa

As far as I can see, your page contains only one anchor (a) element, and
that is to download the flash player. So, the css selectors a:visited
and a:hover are only going to affect that one link (and that link
appears only if you don't have a recent version of Flash installed).
That's why you're not seeing any effect.

Michael is using javascript to modify the colours of the blocks in the

document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#c0c0c0'; break;

document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#ffffff'; break;
}
}

link. I didn't see any links on the page.

There are two instances of this line in the code:

These set a timeout of one second (1000 milliseconds) to call the

setTimeout('ShowLogo()', 2000);

Thank you, Martin.

There should be no links at all …

Only regarding memory.

Hello :-)

Thank's at all for your help. I can create memory exercices with Jquiz.

I have noticed that in the title bar of an exercice, if I insert the
caractere " ' " (apostrophe), the exercice will not be created correctly.

Bug ?

Cordialy.
