The tape unit on the HP 85 you buy will probably be damaged, and it is
not a fun thing to fix.
Avoid the the HP 85, and instead choose an HP 86B or HP 87XM and get a
floppy drive for it.
I have an HP87XM and an HP 9122C dual floppy drive unit.
Things to consider:
1. processing speed on the HP 80 series is very slow
2. Programming is VERY EASY
Get a GPIB card for your PC
1. Programming will not be as easy an on an HP 85 or HP 86, HP87
2. Fast processing power.

Subject: [hpseries80] Advice about buying HP-85 (new member)
I'm looking around to purchase a HP-85 and a HPIB interface to allow
me to control some items of T&M equipment. I have quite a limited
budget but would welcome what things to look out for and some ideas on
what prices I can expect to pay.
Thanks,
Steve
