RE: [hpseries80] CP/M system disk

Go to http://www.series80.org

I think that they have it. You will need to use the hp LIFUTIL utility

Floppy disk for series 80 use LIF format, and usually 256 byte sectors.

Most modern PC BIOS DO NOT support 256 byte sectors. The LIFUTIL program
needs BIOS with 256 byte support.

What I ended up doing was to purchase an old HP Vectra computer on ebay

This has a 200 MHZ Pentium and it DOES support 256 byte sectors, LIFUTIL
works perfectly.

WARNING! Just because a PC is very old DOES NOT mean that it will support

256 byte sectors. Example, I have a Dell 333P (80386 based 33 MHZ) and it

DOES NOT support 256 byte sectors, LIFUTIL FAILS!!

Subject: [hpseries80] CP/M system disk

I recently aquired a CP/M module for the HP-86/87. Tonight, I wanted to
download the CP/M system disk from hpmuseum.net but it seems that this great
site is currently down. Has anyone an image of the system disk to share? And
BTW, has anyone practical CP/M experience on Series 80 computers, or
interesting software to share?

Thank you,
Juergen

There are many low level disk tools around. I know Teledisk, ImageDisk (freeware), and the nice tools from www.hp9845.net (e.g., hpdir). I think the latter...

Jürgen, You need Teledisk to recreate the disks from the museum. Initializing of other disks can be done with the HP-85 it self. -Rik ... From: "Jürgen...
