Just FYI:

At the IETF Apps area open meeting in London, there was brief
discussion of revising the HTTP spec to clarify, drop unused
portions, etc. I don't remember the exact discussion, but the upshot
of the suggestion was that there shouldn't be a new WG, just a small
group editing and clarifying the doc.

There wasn't any formal outcome, just likely more discussion. There
was fairly broad interest, no serious objections.
