Hiya!

Six years ago, on June 28th, 1998, issue 11 of the Hugi Magazine was
released. This was the first issue in English language and laid the
foundation of Hugi's international success.

The opening picture is a work from Antony Squizzato. Hellfire/Haujobb
created the background graphics, and Dendrite/Hugi made the closing
image.

The music - jazz style - was composed by Smash, who was then a member
of Beam and Noise.

On this occasion, I'd like to ask you to write articles for Hugi #29.
I'm planning to release the new issue during the summer holidays. We
are still in need of articles of any kind - coding tutorials, party
reports, interviews, ramblings, short stories and the like.

There was a poll attached to Hugi #28. You can also find it at the
website, http://www.hugi.de/. I'd like to ask two additional
questions:

What is your opinion on the public release of werkkzeug1 by
   Farbrausch?

How do you think will it influence the development of the demoscene?

In case you don't know werkkzeug1 yet, check out one of these
websites:
http://www.theprodukkt.com/
http://www.bitchtothecurb.com/workthings/

Have a nice summer!

Best regards,
Adok/Hugi

There has been a dramatic increase of racist attacks in France. If you
want to speak against it, feel free to sign the following petition at
the end of the attached list. Then please forward the mail with your
signature to other people you know.

If you've received a list with more than 500 signatures, please
forward it to:

Monsieur le Président de la République
Palais de l'Elysée
55, rue du faubourg Saint-Honoré

FRANCE

E-mail: http://www.elysee.fr/ecrire/mail.htm

Afterwards feel free to start a new list (with your own name as the
first).

(English)

Petition Against Racism in France

According to the media, there has been a dramatic increase of racist
attacks in France: Since January 1st, 2004, there have been at least
134 criminal offences and 375 threats with an anti-Semite background.

In the beginning of the 21st century, such a situation cannot be
tolerated in a democratic country and member state of the European
Union.

Therefore we urge the French government to act and stop the racist
attacks. Unless France becomes a safe place for Jews and other people
again, we will boycot goods "Made in France" and refrain from spending
our holidays in France.

verbringen.

Hi there!

We will definitely release a new issue of the Hugi Magazine in this
summer. The only question that remains is whether it will still be in
the traditional diskmag form.

Inside the Hugi Staff, we have been discussing the idea of releasing
Hugi as an online magazine in the future. The idea is not to release
single issues any more, but add at least one new article once every 2
to 3 days.

Just like http://www.slashdot.org/ or http://science.orf.at/ there
will be a discussion board for each article so that you will be
encouraged to discuss the contents of the articles.

In addition, I'd like to publish a collection of recent articles in
the form of a diskmag once every few months to keep up the tradition.

The contents of the new magazine will be the same as in the current
one. But we will put the emphasis on articles on all kinds of topics
that are interesting for educated people: science, computers,
politics, technology, art, music, culture, philosophy, cyberspace.

What do you think about this? Feel free to tell me your opinion!

Cheers
Claus - Adok/Hugi

(P.S. Sorry to all of you who disapprove of my previous mail to this
mailing list, which was not related to the Hugi Magazine. After the
current debate "Sharon vs. Chirac" I simply felt the urge to express
my opinion.)

got for Hugi 29 so far. Once I'm done with this, the new issue will be
almost ready for release.

However, it would be good if you could send us more a couple more
articles for the following sections:

- Interviews with individual sceners (none so far, only articles about
whole groups)

Please reply to this mail in case you're interested.

I'm looking forward to your contributions.

Hiya!

The following is from a posting I've just posted to the pouet.net BBS
thread about Hugi 29, http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13051.

"Hugi is not a demo scene magazine. It's just a mag that also contains
articles about the demo scene, among many other topics. At the moment
one could say that Hugi focuses on computer arts, but even that might
change (although I don't think that it will do so in the near future).

For the future of Hugi, I wish that it will also gain more popularity
outside the demo scene, and that we get more talented contributors
from outside of the demo scene so that we will no longer be
'dependent' on the demo scene. This is the prime reason why there has
been the idea of transforming Hugi to an online magazine. After all,
people who don't download .exe files regularly like demo watchers and
the like might feel a bit uncomfortable when they have to download and
start an .exe file just in order to read a mag.

Everybody please feel free to tell their non-scene friends about Hugi,
and also feel encouraged to post about Hugi, including a link to our
website http://www.hugi.de/, to discussion boards, portal sites etc.
of other communities! Thank you very much in advance for your
support."

Hi there!

LoneStar of Phare Design has joined the Hugi Core. He has made some
graphics used in previous issues of Hugi. He has also created music
which hasn't been used yet.

For Hugi 30, he has already created opening, background and closing
pictures, and he keeps creating cliparts for use as illustrations
inside articles.

He has asked me to become a member of the Hugi Core as his current
group Phare Design is not active any more.

You can find an interview with him in Hugi 25.

Welcome in our team, Fabian.

Hi there!

hugi.de is no longer working. From now on, please consider
http://www.hugi.scene.org/ the main URL. Mirror sites:

My personal homepage has also been affected by this. The URL has
changed to: http://www.hugi.scene.org/adok/

Cheers

Hi there!

Hugi 30 has been released. From the description at www.hugi.scene.org:

The Royal Hugi Empire strikes back with a kind of anniversary issue
(the thirtieth). Featuring a lot of thought-provoking, informative and
entertaining "Scene Substance" by people such as Adok, TAD, Preacher,
rand0m, EP, Optimus, CiH, DiamonDie, Entropy, kraviz, 33 and many
more.

Preacher has written a tutorial on Demo Design. TAD is back with new
chapters of "The Wake-Up Call". EP has contributed almost 300k of
texts. There are reports about the Atari and CPC scenes by CiH and
Optimus respectively. Optimus has also written a lot of rants about
his real life. On the coding side, there are tutorials on writing an
exporter plug-in for 3DS Max, using OpenGL extensions, WMI in the .NET
framework, and more. There are also party reports, interviews, polls
and resources lists.

The graphical design has been done by LoneStar: He created opening,
background and closing pictures. He's also the creator of many
illustrations used inside the menus and articles.

Music comes from JDruid/Turbiini, SpiiKKi, Converse/A51, LoneStar,
JosSs and Stanley/Elenziah.
