The LUG has many ways of communicating with members, of which this is only one. We update the Blog, Twitter feeds and FaceBook pages with details of the groups irl events, and considering the lack of activity on this list (other than automated mail-outs) over the last few months, I'm starting to question it's value.

I know that there are people who don't follow Twitter, or Facebook, and don't use RSS alerts to keep up to date with the website and blog.

I am thinking of putting together a monthly 'digest' which would be posted out via a separate (and hopefully easier to manage and maintain) means, which I feel would make this list wholly redundant.

If this mailing list is your only means of your keeping in touch with LUG events please reply to this notice, in order that the LUG can fully cater for your needs.

I don't mind it continuing - the automated reminders do serve a purpose, however If people are using the http://hulllug.org site, or @hulluklug on Twitter, as well as the FBook page etc,�etc, then I'll stop updating this list everytime there's something new.

I am looking at creating a subscription mailing list, in the form of a LUG digest or newsletter which could be sent out to subscribers�automatically, a week or so before each meeting.� The idea to keep people informed, of LUG events, and to act as a reminder about the next meeting.

�

I'm having a think about forums and member interaction (I know the forum I generated on the site is next to useless), and will be putting some ideas together over the next few weeks

At the last meeting we discussed the idea of travelling down to Lincoln LUG's
first meeting on Tuesday 27/09/2011.  I'll be taking my car there and will have
some space available.  There were others who were willing to drive down as well.

If you would like to come along with us, send a reply to this, and we'll sort
out the necessary arrangements. No doubt it will involve leaving Hull at about
6.00 � 6.30pm on the day in question.

Subject: Hull LUG December Meeting and Festive Meal

There has been quite a bit of talk over the last couple of months about what we're going to do to mark the December meeting, and the run up to the festive holiday season.� Bearing in mind we've thought about stuff in the past and never 'quite' got round to it we decide at the last meeting that although Xanders couldn't provide us with Wifi, they did have exceptional food and beer at our last visit there in September.

We had a look at their Xmas menu at the last meeting, and a table has been reserved (in the window so we can at least get a mobile signal).� The staff and management at Xanders have asked if we can give them an idea of numbers, so that they can cater for us both in terms of space and service, so it would be much appreciated if you could take a couple of minutes just to let us know if you'll be coming along this month, and ideally whether or not you'll be eating (especially if you'll be opting for the vegetarian or vegan option).

Hi Everyone

Just a quick line to thank everyone for coming along to Xanders last night for the December Meet and Festive�Feast.� It was another excellent turnout, and judging by the laughter and merriment everyone seemed to have a good time.

�

There are a few photo's on Hull LUG's Google+ and Facebook pages already.

�

The first Tuesday of January is the 3rd.� The first day after the bank holiday, for many the first day back at work after the Xmas and new Year break, and for pretty much everyone, the day we count the loose change in our pockets, and work out how we can survive till pay day!!!

�

For theses reasons it was decided that there will be NO HULL LUG MEETING IN JANUARY!!!

�

Our next meeting therefore will be on Tuesday 7th February 2012.� The venue is yet to be arranged, however unless anyone has any serious objection, I propose another visit to Xanders.� I'll have a word and see if we can get a big table in the window (where we can get�a mobile signal).

�

If anyone has any other suggetions for meeting venues please let me know.

�

Before then, Lincoln LUG will be having their next meeting on Wednesday 18/01/2012 in the Olde Crowne Inne in Lincoln.� There is likely to be transport down, so if you want to come, and want a lift, or can even offer a lift please let us know.
