A REPORT
THE 2003 HUNA WORLD CONVENTION
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO
by Diana Stone
My husband and I flew into the St. Louis airport on the evening of July 22 where we were met by my brother, Duane Henkle, who came by car from Santa Fe, NM. We headed south to Cape Girardeau the home of Huna headquarters and where the conference was held.
Thirty-five years ago almost to the very day, I traveled from St. Louis, my home at the time, to meet a college professor in Cape Girardeau who wanted someone to help him get started learning astrology. As an afterthought, I tossed Max Freedom Longs’s two original books about Huna into my briefcase thinking he just might be interested in that, too.
Little did we know then that Dr. E. Otha Wingo, whom I met for the first time that day, would someday assume the mantle of leadership from Max and is President of Huna Research to this day. And the Holiday Inn where I stayed this time is the very same one where that original meeting took place. I would say we have come full circle
.
I am from the Midwest and have tried to adequately extol the virtues to my husband (California guy) of Mississippi River catfish prepared with a crispy crust of cornmeal. We had one day free and good fortune led us to a restaurant right on the river that was in the restored historic section of old Cape Girardeau. The building is the oldest West of the Mississippi River. All three of us chowed down on huge servings of catfish prepared just the way I remembered.
Duane and I were the keynote speakers the following evening. I did the lecture and Duane did a lightbody activation including material that is not in the book. If we ever had any doubts about how this would be received, they were quickly dispelled.
Don and I manned the vendor’s table where we sold all 75 books we brought with us. That was pretty good considering there were about 125 people in attendance and some of them already had the book. Duane did 15 lightbody activations and healing sessions in three days. He could have done more but he was at the limits of his energies. Many people approached me after their sessions expressing amazement at Duane’s powerful insights and healing abilities.
What made this a very special conference for us were, yes, undoubtedly the
teachers and lecturers, but even more it was the people who traveled from all over the world to be there. This conference was definitely a heart-centered experience. It was an older group with many in attendance in their seventies, eighties and nineties There was about an even split between men and women.
I am used to astrological conferences where the group is probably 95% women.
That is certainly not to say that there wasn’t an abundance of powerful teachers
presenting thought-provoking and fascinating lectures. As I got acquainted with different people, I realized that there were many people who were very prominent in various fields of endeavor. I was impressed how many medical people were there. The Chief of Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital was among them.
Dr. Ed Close held me spellbound throughout his lecture “The Quantum Connection.” I recommend his book Transcendental Physics. Business matters took him to Saudi Arabia. While living there in 1986 he had a vision following which he wrote continuously for four days and nights. His work is an incredible breakthrough in theoretical physics and the nature of consciousness. It is understandable to laypersons.
Paul White Eagle was gently powerful and impressive in word and physical appearance. He now serves as Chief of his people called AhNiYvWiYa. He is a prominent artist, poet and a popular conference speaker teaching about his people’s ancient culture. He held the audience spellbound in total silence by his stories and lyrical voice and manner.
Loretta Grabowski opened the lecture schedule with a talk on the basics of Huna and the Ho’oponopono ritual. Henry Krotoschin traveled all the way from Switzerland to teach two sessions. He’s ninety years old and a delight.
Rick Venious and Ed Spencer represented one of the most powerful kahuna in Hawaii and are his apprentices. They also did many healings for people on the massage tables scattered about. These two were involved with the closing day healing ceremony. You just had to be there to hear the ancient chants and prayers in the Hawaiian language. It raised the hairs on my head.
Maybe I am biased, but my dear old friend, Dr. Wingo, delivered my favorite among the roster of outstanding lectures. He is Professor Emeritus from Southeast Missouri State University where he taught the classical languages. The title of his talk was “100 Forbidden Words.” He tells about a time in the 1500s when the Bible was being translated into English. There was a “law” that certain words of the Bible must never be translated into English. One of those words is “demon.” Under Otha’s deft translations back to the original languages, a completely opposite meaning from the present interpretation is clear. Those folks who insist that every word in the English Bible is the literal Truth are in for a shock.
Aren’t you curious about what they DIDN’T want us to know? Those familiar with the principles of Huna were not surprised that the correct translations suspiciously resemble the ancient teachings we encounter in our studies.
I wholeheartedly recommend that you order the videotape. (Ordering information below.)
All of the presentations were video taped by a very capable professional photographer. The tapes are available through the Huna organization. (Get your name on their mailing list!) Duane and I took advantage of the opportunity to make a training video. It demonstrates how to do a lightbody activation and all of the other techniques included in the book. It will be available on this Web site as soon as it is edited.
All of this wonderful sharing and knowledge were not the only activities. Everyone enjoyed the local Holiday Inn, which is most elegant and beautiful. Really a jewel! Each day there was a wonderful buffet. The last night was the banquet, a home-cooked affair of fried chicken, meatloaf and all the trimmings. There was even a belly dancer. So you can see it was a well-rounded schedule!
After we returned, one of my friends and lightbody workers from the Seattle area, Sara Foster, was in attendance and had this to say. (I think she speaks for everyone there.) “The amount of material I came home with, WITHOUT buying anything additional (which I am) if I sit down and use everything, I have about a year’s worth of study materials just from the four days!”
There will be another conference in Cape Girardeau next year. I hope some of you can attend.
