Jeremy Glick was the third of the six Glick children, raised in Oradell by parents, Lloyd and Joan, who worked tirelessly to give their kids an elite education at Saddle River Day School. He wasn't the best student, the most graceful athlete, or the best looking kid in the class. It never mattered. Jeremy Glick was just the kid everyone wanted to be.
A national collegiate judo champion, Glick graduated from the University of Rochester.
When he married Lyzbeth Makely in 1996. Glick was a leading sales rep with Giga Information Group, but in 2000 joined Vividence, an Internet service provider of products about the behavior, thoughts and attitudes of Web customers.
The couple settled into life in Hewitt, N.J., and while Glick often told his wife that he could have waited a few more years to become a parent, once their daughter, Emerson, was born in June he wanted nothing more than to spend time with her.
Their daughter was born premature, and Glick went on all the trips to the doctor. She required hourly feeding, and while the couple often took turns, sometimes Glick would stay up all night so his wife could sleep.
Nor did he shy away from diaper duty, although Lyz said he often would end up being with the baby for 30 minutes, and then yell for her to come in to see Emerson smile.
Glick was known for his sweetness and decency, his good character and good family, the way he loved Lyz, his grade school sweetheart, and his sweet baby, Emerson.
Since her birth, Glick was reluctant to leave home. But when there was an important conference in San Francisco, his wife urged him to get back to work and stop worrying about the baby.
So, on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Glick boarded United Flight 93.
