Locking the screen will toss any visual effects. And you have to watch it,
because locking can occur all the way back in the home stack, or in any
stack in use. You may have to trap and kill opencard, closecard,
openBackGround, etc., to make sure that nothing gets past the visual effect
handler you are working on. It is one of the only, but most insidious,
message passing labrinths in HC.

On my slow days at work I'm using my G5 2.7 and I see very little of the
visual effect here.
However, at home on my little Centrus I can see it just fine. I'm using my
G4 for graphics
support, placing them on Floppy, then to the Centrus.
