Tom: i-mode phones in use in Japan now use different browsers
and different version of the same browser. Some phones like the
SH900i also have the Pixel browser which can display pdf-files
and Excel files. All browsers in i-Mode phones comply with
DoCoMo's i-mode standards. However, if you use features outside
DoCoMo's i-mode specifications:
(a) there is no guarantee that all phones will display your
pages correctly
(b) there is no guarantee that future phones will display your
pages
So it depends what you want. There are more than 100 different
i-mode phones on the market. Do you want your pages to display
correctly on all of them? Do you want your pages only to display
on 900i series FOMA phones? For example, there are some games
which only work on 900i series phones.
it really depends what you want, and on your business model.
