This year we are going to start importing ITBS and ITED scores into
powerschool. Before you get data into PS you have to define which
scores you want to keep. For each score it gives you 3 pieces of data
to enter: number, percent, and alpha. I'll use reading comprehension
as an example. Number = 36, %=85 , no alpha score. According to the
documentation, percent is truly percent, not a percentile score. What
we are most interested in are percentile scores, national and state
(mostly national). Sure I could import the percentile score into the
percent field, but then that data would not be accurate. Then if
someone ever needed percent data they would actually be getting
percentile data. I'm wondering if using the "test" part of powerschool
is actually an effective way of keeping such data. Seems like making
custom fields would be easier. Question is, if you keep the data in
custom fields instead of the built in test fields, what are the
ramifications? Thoughts?
