Of the ones I looked at when looking for our district, I liked the
following two the most. I could also send you my comparison PowerPoint
of the features if you want:. It was tough deciding between the two.
They have different strengths.

My Conference Time - Cost $229 a year per account. Could use just one
account for the whole district or buy one per school.
Districts with 1-100 teachers could get along with just one account just
fine I think. The developer is very nice and responds quickly to questions.

My School System - Cost $200 per school per year. The developer is also
very nice and responds quickly to questions and suggestions.

Hello,

Do any of you use a web based parent-teacher conference scheduling software where parents can sign up for times and a schedule is created for that teacher based on sign ups?  We are researching a few different ones and thought you might also have some suggestions.

Thanks for your input.

Has anybody else been looking at the Health Lab on PowerSource? They just
opened it up today for us to get in and play with it. It looks very nice - very
Web 2.0ish.

I'm concerned though. While Pearson is building us a nice new Health and
Immunization tracking system, I'm mentally nagged over the list of fields I see
for Iowa Reporting when I click the "View Field List" link. There are a ton of
IA_Immunization* fields in there. I have to wonder if the DE is preparing to
require immunizations to be reported through Project EASIER? If that's the
case, I have to wonder if we are going to be able to use the new swishy
interface that's going to come with PS 6.1.

Does anybody have any inside knowledge as to the DE's plans?

POS Not sure as we don't use it that way. We have the parents go to our store
and add thei items to a cart - -for all of their kids - -and then check out.

I am guessing you could automate the export from revtrak and autocomm it into PS

Wow!

I know that it doesn't really have a point of sale option and that it costs
parents a certain percentage for each transaction. We are wondering if anyone
is using anything different (other than payschools or powerschool), specifically
during the registration process for fees management. We are trying to move to
centralized registration, one location, no need to go to each building for each
child. Last year we used powerschool and it's fees functions and it went pretty
well. There are some limitations to it of course. The main one in my opinion
is that it doesn't have a family fee component. We will consider using it
again, but are also interested in investigating other softwares that were made
soley for that purpose. It would have to include a point of sale aspect and
include a family balance and receipt and not cost a percentage per transaction.
Does anyone use a software that does those things?

Daryl,
Can you give me a little background on it? Is there a point of sale option to
it so secretaries could use it to collect money at registration? Does it handle
family fees so you can do one receipt? Parents can pay online? Do you have it
transfer a balance to powerschool at all?
Thanks,
Doug

It doesn't appear powerschool likes long lines of encoded polylines. It will
take snippets, but not long lines. I created our district, save it.. and it is
save, but when I go to edit boundary -- it is not showing up on the map.

No clue why this occurs

We are still searching for a solution as well. We have a wonderful text doc
that we got the county auditors office to send us. But no way yet to convert
those coordinates to an encoded polyline.

I did start a thread on the Powersource Community Forum in August which has had
some conversation.  It is at
     * PowerSource: Home >
     * PowerSchool >
     * PowerSchool Forums >
     * Using PowerSchool >
     * Address Management Encoded Polylines

Last I looked it was on about page 10. There have been a couple of posts with
utilities from Google but so far we can't get them to help us.

We too are anxious to find a way to make the defining of district boundaries
easier.

The canned report is the At-Risk report. There are others you can find on
National PSUG and import into your system, modify, and personalize.

When I run this query in sqlDeveloper my results are as expected.

SELECT lastfirst, ps_customfields.getStudentscf(id,'IA_ResidentCounty')
FROM students
WHERE enroll_status='0'

It returns 2 digit numerical values for counties for all of my active students. Can you see the data in DDE/DDA?

I would call support.

After a harrowing fall submission for Project EASIER, I am creating some SQL
queries that should help us find data problems throughout the school year. I am
using Oracle SQL Developer to put these queries together and have several
already done, but I'm stumped with what I'm seeing when I try to query the
IA_ResidentDistrict field:

SELECT ps_customfields.getStudentscf(id,'IA_ResidentDistrict')
FROM students;

This returns a column of null.

However, If I change the search to something like

SELECT ps_customfields.getStudentscf(id,'IA_IEP')
FROM students;

it properly returns a column of 1s and 0s.

Is anybody else having this problem? Is Resident District physically being
stored elsewhere, and I've just taken the bait, thinking that it's being stored
in the IA_ResidentDistrict custom field?

The problem with the barcode extract report is in lines 1095-1096 for
item number 25 and in lines 1121 and 1122 for item number 26. The
available values were changed for this year to "1" and "0" from "Y"
and "N". The conversion table is no longer needed.

Shouldn't be an issue. I will share this with you.

We use A as an office assigned only. When the clerk gets to work in the AM,
anyone child's parent who has called will be marked with the A or any child we
know of who is marked is marked accordingly. We only allow teachers to use an NV
code -- so we can search only for that code daily and change the codes teachers
assigned. We wanted to distinguish what was being reported by the teacher versus
what was already recorded in the office.

like the teachers' Absent to default and report the A (excused).

I just ran a test and indeed the values for Title1 Lang and Math are not being extracted properly...

Also, the values are displayed properly on the fall/spring submission page where they were originally entered but not on the bar code page even though the fields are the same...

The problem with the barcode page is that the page is still looking for the old option values of "Y" and "N" in the code on lines 166, 167, 173 and 174 (\admin\students\state\usa_ia\stateIA_BarCodeInput.html). It cannot find the value of "Y" so it defaults to "0". The available values were changed this fall to "1" and "0"...

The school only wants to use the other code that indicates excused. Now, when a
teacher marks a student Absent the Office receives the U (unexcused). The
office spends a lot of time changing the codes to A (excused). The Office would
like the teachers' Absent to default and report the A (excused).
