Hello.
I am new to this list and fairly new to ICQ. I have a problem I'm
hoping someone can help me with.
About downloading files.
I can download from some people. On others I get a message something
like this: "Cannot connect to other party as you are both behind
firewalls. Use a proxy server. Change your settings at......"
I have tried all the simple solutions. Turned off firewall in my
windows or xp. Used the port triggering thing for my router. Checked
keep connection alive etc...
Turned off and on the McAfee firwall. (This one doesn't ever make a
difference)
On the people I can download from, I have "behind a firewall"
checked. If I uncheck it, I won't be able to download. No big deal
on that one.
Here's the funny one: On the people that I get that above message
(behind a firewall) if I uncheck the behind a firewall button, I can
see those files from those people. I no longer get the message. But,
I can't download. It just listens and times out to a can't establish
connection.
I have 2003b (i think)and I have a kinksys router and my system is
wireless. Yes, I know that the linksys has a firewall but no way to
turn it off. I also have the modem. When I called MSN the first
time, they said that they didn't think it was a proxy server and
when I called again someone else said that it is. N help there.
Also, I don't know anything or even how to set up a proxy if that's
what I need. In fact, getting the message was the first time I ever
heard of it.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks so much!
