Hi Gary
Just reload the saved outline to re-initialize the save dialog.

I just ran into a loop I don't know how to get out of.
I've been saving my work by clicking on the "floppy disk" at the top
of the screen. The last time I did so, I decided to check the box that
says something like "Don't show this dialogue box again."
But now I WANT to see the dialogue box so I can save an OPML file to
my hard disk.
But I don't know how to get it back ?
Help ! Thanks :)

It is indeed a planned feature, of the premium version, that won't be
available till Q1 of next year.
I'll remember to have you beta test it as soon as we have it out on the
production server.

A second alpha version of the iJot tool is now available:
http://opmleditor.ijot.net/http://opmleditor.ijot.net/gems/iJot.root
No more community switching needed to publish straight outlines. More
complete iJot menu.
Still missing the iJot to OPML Editor synch though.
Check it out.

You can't 'import' an outline into another.
But you can do 2 things:
1/ copy nodes from the first outliner using the outliner's copy tool, and
paste them into another outline. For this 2 work, you need the 2 outlines
open at the same time in 2 browser tabs or windows. Only problem that I know
of: the outliner cannot select multiple nodes. To do this efficiently, I
would recommend you move all the nodes you want to copy to a single
embedding node first, then copy the embedding node and paste it to the other
outline in the second tab/window.
2/ create an OPML including link between the second outline and the first
one. In the second outline, select the node you want to link into, then
click the OPML link tool in the outliner bar (with the up-arrow sitting on
top of a chain link). In the linking dialog, enter the url of the first
outline (something like
http://garyduke.ijot.net/firstOutline/firstOutline.opml), then click the
attach button.
You can find the URL of any outline's OPML version buy looking at its
published page: click the white on orange XML button at the top right of the
page.

I'm a little unclear about the process for moving an outline previously started into a more recent outline.
I started a contact list and later decided I wanted those numbers in a page with friends and family.
Can I "import" one opml file into another?
I've heard the word inclusion but I'm a little shaky on whether that's actually what I need to do.
PS. I know I can save an opml file to my desktop and can also import it from there, but the question is how to get it actually "inside" the first outline?
Considering the first direct reports, it looked like a tiny iJot
tool for OPML Editor was in order.
Please check it out at http://opmleditor.ijot.net/
And report your findings.
Thanks
Marc
I've been working on providing iJot users a way to publish outlines
and weblog entries with OPML Editor on their local machine.
http://docs.ijot.net/OpmlEditorBridge/
Before I start recruiting volunteers in the OPML Editor Community, I
would appreciate if some members of this group could give it a try and
let me know what they find out.
Thanks

Hi Richard
I could open the outline you mention and did make modifications without any
problems.
Could you please be a little more specific about the 'munging', and tell me
which browser and system you were using at the time ?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Matt. I'm afraid we are not ready yet to publish licensing
information yet.
I believe I sent you a private email. Let me know here if you didn't
receive it.

Ok.. so we are sold on this outliner, to put it mildly, even if we
have to trash our own 6 months of outliner work. Great job!
But can someone give me an idea of how affordable the weboutliner
authoring tool will be for our site, and when we might use even an
alpha version, just to get started? This is going to shape a lot of
our future interest and questions ;)
Thanks for superb work!
iJot supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 for Windows, Mozilla
Firefox 1.x (all Gecko based browsers) and Apple Safari 2.x.
As iJot is still in its development phase, we test first with Firefox,
then MSIE 6, then Safari.
Safari and MSIE users can help us by first being patient when
encountering problems, then checking those problems against Firefox
before reporting them. Do report them though, we welcome all feedback.
We're interested in feedback from 'exotic' browser users
- Opera, OmniWeb, Konqueror, insert your favorite browser here - but
usually lack the resources to do anything about it, unless they provide
us with a direct solution.
"Carl" wrote:

Carl, as I wrote earlier, we develop with Firefox, then test with Windows
MSIE 6. Safari only comes third in our tests, that is only when we can find
the time.
I made some quick modifications to the edit-in-place code after your note of
yesterday, to work around a couple of known Safari bugs in the operation of
IFRAMES from Javascript.
The outliner now displays properly within the page on my development system
(MacOS 10.4.5 / Safari 2.0.3).
I suspect there may be a lot more Safari specific bugs in the outline save
process.
We are waiting to check the whole site for Safari compatibilities till the
last few days before launch, because Safari is still such a young (and
bugged) browser we always end-up looking for workarounds to bugs that will
eventually get corrected in the next release.
In the meantime, if you can provide me with a precise description of Safari
related bugs, I'll take a quick look and try to publish an immediate fix if
it does not take too long.
For the time being, I would recommend using Firefox on MacOS X, though we
will definitely provide Safari compatibility in iJot eventually. Users of
Opera, Omniweb and Konqueror are on their own for now :-)
Cheers

The demosite looks promising.
But the name-site nothing is functional, apart from the static display of the
text.
Could this be OSX 10.3.9 's Safariwebrowser.

Since there are now over a hundred accounts created at
http://ijot.net/, it is probably time we start providing some measure
of support, even though the service is still under development and
won't be launched for a couple of months at least.
Anything you find confusing, downward bugged, or simply missing from
iJot ? Inquire here.
To avoid spammers as much as possible, ijot-support membership must be
approved. We try to reply to applications same day.
Once this discussion has grown a bit, we will try to publish a
structured outline of the topics discussed herein.
Happy outlining/publishing
