Hello guys,
We know that Betamax always comes up with new names and prices. Here is
a website where you can compare all or most Betamax providers:
http://backsla.sh/betamax
Just go there and see which one is cheaper to call your country. Also,
it is important that you read the website of the provider, because some
of them are just PC based. Therefore, PAP2 or any voip adapter won't
work.
Good luck.

I really don't like Skype much because we can't use their services with our PAP2 adapters; but now they are offering free calls to landlines and cell phones around the world for one day (Mothers' day), I want to take the advantage of this free offer.

I've been experimenting with Voicestick this week as my line 2 provider on my Sipura adaptor.
The quality is similar to vbuzzer, but they have caller id block which vbuzzer does not offer and their 3 way calling seems to work, whereas I'm not sure vbuzzer's does.
I had to forward my port (5060) on my router to get the sipura to work.
All the credit goes to Veronica for this, who is a member of the group and wanted to share this information for those who want to use their adapter for Voicestick services.
Veronica: "Maybe you can add this information (the pdf file I attached) regarding the voicestick configuration if you want to use a phone adapter or the X-lite softphone. They just allowed the use of your own device recently. Just make sure that in the "Update profile" of the Voicestick account, a password for the "MG-3" device is created so it can connect to their server when configuring the phone adapter or the X-lite softphone. So far, I found Voicestick to be the cheapest provider of long distance among many Voip provider. I have this for a long time now but I am just waiting when they can offer the Canadian number."
I personally chose to forward my Voicestick number to my Vbuzzer number. In that, I can still keep my Line 2 available for whatever provider I want to use. You can do that or use the file attached here and configure one of your lines, just like Veronica.
Thank you Veronica for sharing this information,
Sukru

Hello to all,
just take a quick look at www.voicestick.com because they offer free
phone number from UK and USA. I've got my own UK (Liverpool) number
from them and it works fine.

Voip Buster Pro is 60% cheaper and includes much more destinations for
free. Plus, we all can use our PAP2 with any Betamax providers, and
Skype doesn't offer that either.

You can get free outgoing calls to people in your address book while
GrandCentral is still in beta. Just go to your GC address book, click
on the call icon, and they ring your phone number, then attempt to
complete your outgoing call. With Gizmo Project, the entire call is free.

Here is another Betamax provider: http://www.lowratevoip.com/en/index.html It offers free calls to Turkey. So, check out their rates to see if it offers free calls to the destination you call the most. Because it is new, it has more countries in its free list than any other Betamax provider.
The configuration settings are the same like all other Betamax providers, such as voipbuster, internetcalls, and voipstunt. In this Yahoo Group, you can find an example of a Betamax setting. It's just that you need to create a new user name with lowratevoip in order to use their services.
Check this out:
http://www.freecallstomexico.com/
If you are interested to make free calls to Mexico, that is the
website you should take a look. Please don't ask me any question about
that provider. I don't use them.
Good luck.
I have another good news for you. We all can have a free UK phone number forwarded to our Vbuzzer number.
First of all, remember that you can also have a free Washington State number forwarded to your Vbuzzer number. To learn how you can do that, read "Message 17" in our lovely, small, informative Yahoo Group.
6- Click on "Submit" and make sure you see that Primary shows your Vbuzzer SIP uri without 80 part. If not, go to Step 4.
7- You are done.
You now have a UK number. If anybody calls that number, your Vbuzzer number will ring. You might need to wait for a few minutes to your number be active.
Now, if you go to my unfinished website (click here to see) and click on Contct Me, you will see 4 different phone numbers from 3 different countries. When you call one of them, my only one phone registered on Line 2 of my PAP2 will ring. Isn't that great?
Have fun with your voip services,
Sukru
P.S.: I am also new to voipuser.org. If you have questions, please go to their forum.
Important Reminder: This Yahoo Group is only to share some useful information about voip. PLEASE do not send any questions to the group. The group is not for discussions. To ask your questions or open a discussion, please go to a user forum such as Vbuzzer, Acanac, DSLReports, etc. and post it there.
And now I am reseller of Vbuzzer. Buy your credits from me and see the payment in your account immidiately. NO WAITING. I accept cash, cheque, moneybookers or PayPal. Here is my unfinished website: http://www.geocities.com/ilovepap2/buy.html
Hi Guys,
I finally found a way to call other vbuzzer users using your ATA and
dial pad of the phone. Well, you can always use Speed Dial option but
that is limited to 8 people. With bellow method, you can call unlimited
numbers of Vbuzzer users.
When you have a phone number from Vbuzzer, no matter what area code you
have, all calls between Vbuzzer users are free. But when you open an
account with Vbuzzer, if that account doesn't have a phone number, you
can't call that user, unless you use speed dial option of your ATA,
which is limited to 8 people.
With the method I just found out, you can call some Vbuzzer users. You
can even choose your own Vbuzzer account phone number and also decide
how many digits you want your numbers to be.
Before it gets too complecated, let me give you one example: First, you
have to decide what letter(s) you want to use. I chose s of Sukru. I
also decided that I want the phone numbers to be only 4 digits. Then
open a brand new Vbuzzer account. Here is the key: When opening, your
Vbuzzer user name should start with the letter you chose (in my
example, it is s). So, for my mom, let's say I want her phone number to
be 1234. It is 4 digits. So, I opened a brand new Vbuzzer account with
the user name of s1234.
Now, add the following into your dial plan:
<:s>xx xx <:@vbuzzer.com:80>
That means, whenever I make 4 digit calls, PAP2 will call
sxxxx@...:80 .
So, to call my mom, all I have to do is pick up the phone and dial her
phone number that I chose; 1234. When I do that, the PAP2 will call
s1234@...:80 which is the sip uri of my mom.
My Vbuzzer user name is sukrubey. Because there isn't any number in my
user name such as s1234, you can't call me; BUT I do have BuzzMe phone
number. Therefore, you can call me.
The above method is useful when you want to call other Vbuzzer users
who don't have BuzzMe numbers.
I receive a lot of questions about dial plan problems such as why you can't cal Germany, why you get busy tone when dialing, etc.
I just wanted to let you know that we have a document in the Yahoo Group called "What is a dial plan" in Configuration Settings folder. It is only 3 pages. Once you read it, you will be an expert about making dial plans.
Whoever is interested in understanding and making his or her own dial plans, I advise you to read that document in the group's file. It will help you a lot.
I use my Cisco 7960 with 6 VoiP service providers!

While I was chatting with some of you, I recognized that few people don't use Line 2 at all. Well, there is nothing wrong with that. Is is just that voip is a great world and most of things here are either free or very cheap. While you have an adapter (PAP2) that has 2 phone ports, why don't you use the advantages of that.
For example, FWD is a completely free voip service. Why not configure your Line 2 for FWD? With FWD, you can have a free Washington State number. Pluss, you can call 1800 numbers for free.
Another example, Stanaphone offers free New York number. Why not configure your Line 2 for Stanaphone?
3rd example, you can configure your Line 2 with a provider that gives the lowest rate in the market for the country you call the most. www.internetcalls.com is a sibling provider of Voipstunt and voipbuster. It charges 1 cent to call Turkey. So, I configured internetcalls on my Line 2.
4th example, give your wife/husband or doughter/son a gift of his or her own Toronto (416) number. It costs only $2.50 CAD a month.
Also, it is always better to use a second provider, because sometimes your main provider can have server problems. For example, my main provider, Vbuzzer, was down yesterday morning. I wasn't able to use it; but I had internetcalls on Line 2. By using it, I was able to make calls.
What I am trying to say is that use the advantages of your PAP2. Don't let Line 2 rest. Make it work and enjoy the voip world more. In this group, we have a list of more than 20 Canadian voip providers, and a list of VoipXXXX family. Just spend some time and find what is best for you.
My best wishes to all, Sukru

SipPhone offers free voice conferancing. You don't have to register for their services at all. If you have a Linksys Sipura ATA (such as PAP2), it is very easy to make voice conferancing.
Here is how you can do: 1- Decide a 7-digit number (Example; 3334444)
2- Type SIP URI of your own conferance room: It should start with 1212, then your 7-digit number, then must end with SipPhone URI @proxy01.sipphone.com (Example; 12123334444@...)
3- After you create your own voice conferance URI (in our example; it is 12123334444@...) copy and send it to your friends/relatives who have a Linksys/Sipura ATA.
4- Including yourself, tell them to paste the URI (example, 12123334444@...) in one of Speed Dials, which can be found ander User 1 or 2 of your PAP2 or SPA.
Save it. Let's say, you and your friends saved it for Speed Dial 2. When you pick up the phone and dial 2 and # , the PAP2 will call your voice conferance room. If you are the first, because there isn't anybody to talk, you will hear some welcome messages. As soon as second person comes to the room, you will be connected to each other.
It is free, easy, and very usefull.
