emptying items from trash in nautilus   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #18892 of 20642 |
Hi all,
let me summarise what i was trying to do in a few steps.
1) was copying some files from cd to the hard disk. the files didint
copy properly and were giving error as cd was scratched. so i stopped
the copy process and deleted he files from the hard disk. where they
went to trash.
2)however, NOW when i try to empty trash it just refuses to go out. and
if i manualy try to click on it and delete it, it says "error while
deleting" with the description reading Error removing file: Permission
denied.

i ried loggin in as root from terminal and running nautilus. but the
moment i click on trash on the sidebar, nautilus just freezes and doesnt
display anything... the mouse pointer just keeps on revolving round and
round showing that it is busy

my question is.

how to i delete these stupid files???????????

Ashley

Why not load Midnight Commander, go to the relevant directory (.Trash or whatever), and simply manually delete your trash? It usually works for me, but I might...
