Hi!!!
i finally got the solution to this stupid problem...

Arvind, Dhaval, thanks for inputs...
the command was actually correct, ONLY the location of trash was a mystery.

the trash is located in ~/.local/share/Trash

INSIDE this folder is a folder called files and it was inside this
folder that i had to run the #sudo rm -rf *

finally the balmy files have disappeared, thaks to all for help.

first time i'm so pleased to take out the trash :-P

Why not load Midnight Commander, go to the relevant directory (.Trash or whatever), and simply manually delete your trash? It usually works for me, but I might...
