Word Weaver |
| |||
I met him when I was a young man Free as the blowing sand He was old and gray and wearing away Like the granite on a forgotten land He walked with a cane in the sun and the rain But he walked with his head held high He was a man who gloried in living Not afraid to try He was a word weaver A man who could speak his heart Sometimes he’d stop talking And he’d lean back and gaze at the sky The look on his face was a startled embrace Of a child who had just learned to fly Then he’d talk about living And the glory of the sun and the rain He could never understand How the worth of any man Could be measured by money or gain He was a word weaver | He could thread in the missing parts Some hearts go on giving When the giver has pasted into time The gift of a course is more than a moment Of words, rhythm and rhyme The beauty of a rose in spring time The wonder of a falling star What we give in the way that we live Is the maker of who we are He was a word weaver A man who could speak his heart A word weaver He could thread in the missing parts A word weaver His life and his soul in tune He talked about living He talked about giving, And he talked about the man in the moon. A man who could speak his mind A word weaver Jody Davis

| The Master and His Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the western World By Ian McGilchrist | |||
Why is the brain divided? The difference between right and left hemispheres has been puzzled over for centuries. In a book of unprecedented scope, Iain McGilchrist draws on a vast body of recent brain research, illustrated with case histories, to reveal that the difference is profound—not just this or that function, but two whole, coherent, but incompatible ways of experiencing the world. The left hemisphere is detail oriented, prefers mechanisms to living things, and is inclined to self-interest, where the right hemisphere has greater breadth, flexibility, and generosity. This division helps explain the origins of music and language, and casts new light on the history of philosophy, as well as on some mental illnesses. In the second part of the book, McGilchrist takes the reader on a journey through the history of Western culture, illustrating the tension between these two worlds as revealed in the thought and belief of thinkers and artists, from Aeschylus to Magritte. He argues that, despite its inferior grasp of reality, the left hemisphere is increasingly taking precedence in the modern world, with potentially disastrous consequences. This is truly a tour de force that should excite interest in a wide readership.

INACS Strategic Research Plan A strategic plan is being developed to guide the INACS research efforts. The proposal is for a Brain Imaging Laboratory to support the various EEG research projects, and combine them under one auspices. The purpose is to establish the IBI to support research using psycho-physiological equipment, including EEG, qEEG, and cortical biofeedback (neurofeedback) instruments. The INACS Brain Imaging Laboratory will provide facilities, equipment and staff to support and maintain scientific research in human consciousness. It will be placed for discussion on the agenda for the next board meeting.
INACS News______________________________________________
INACS is formulating plans to have Consciousness Community activities on Saturday afternoons. Scheduled are the MUFON meetings on the first Saturday, INACS on the second or third, and the Anomaly Archives on the fourth Saturday. Open weeks could include but not be limited to a Frontier Science meetup, Consciousness Cinema and general discussions on Consciousness and Psychic phenomena, Keep tuned for more news. Benefits of an INACS membership include but are not limited to Quickstart grants, the NeuroNews newsletter, monthly meetings related to consciousness (Consciousness Connections), and attendance at quarterly research and educations meetings. The INACS Remote Viewing SIG An INACS’ Special Interest Group was formed to study Remote Viewing. The objectives of the Remote Viewing SIG are twofold:
2) To practice various RV techniques to become proficient at the skill. It was decided to meet every two weeks on the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 at the INACS' Nerve Centre. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday August 23rd. A list of RV books or resources contained within the Anomaly Archives, and a short list of some free online resources will provided.
