Subject: 2009 Arson Awareness Week Theme
I would like to ask International Association of Arson Investigators members for
input on a topic and theme for the 2009 Arson Awareness Week {AAW} Public
education campaign. The date for this year's AAW is May 3 - 9, 2009. The three
major goals of Arson Awareness Week are: 1) Create a national umbrella of
recognition and understanding of the arson problem in the U.S.; 2) Highlight
accomplishments and successes in arson prevention grant communities; 3) Promote
the dissemination of arson prevention information and materials. Recent themes
for Arson Awareness Week include Target Arson & Don't Get Burned; Abandoned
Building Mitigation; Arson is NOT a Victimless Crime; Juvenile Fire Setting: The
Preventable Arson; School Arson - A Burning Subject; Wildfire Arson -
Preparedness and Prevention; Vehicle Arson: Who Pays for this Crime and in 2008,
Toylike Lighters - Playing with Fire. The topic should address a specific type
of arson along with its impact and some resources. Please send your ideas to me
via e-mail communiqué - pam@... Thanks, Pam White * * * * *
