Request for Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) Peer
Reviewers
The IAAI is seeking 36
Grants Management is expecting a similar number of applications
to be reviewed in 2009 as we had in 2008. Therefore, we request 12
evaluators for each week for a total of 36 volunteer peer evaluators for the
three 1-week review periods.
The evaluation periods are scheduled as follows with all
evaluations taking place at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) in

May 11-15
Evaluation Group 2
•
May 18-22
Evaluation Group 3
Individuals volunteering to serve as evaluators should plan on
traveling the day before the evaluation period and returning home the afternoon
of the last day of the evaluation period. Travel costs will be
reimbursed, and food and lodging will be provided at NETC. A support
contractor will contact our selected volunteers to discuss the necessary travel
arrangements and reimbursement if a privately owned vehicle is being
used. Transportation will be provided between the airport and NETC.
No salary is authorized for personnel volunteering to evaluate the Assistance
to Firefighter grant applications. Please be aware, for planning
purposes, volunteer evaluators will be scheduled for the entire week.
Grants management procedures prohibit interchanging evaluators during any given
week.
The
IAAI requires that all reviewers be members of the International in good
standing. They must possess knowledge about fire department apparatus,
equipment and training. Members should have experience as members of apparatus
committees or in equipment purchasing or in fire department management roles.
Preference will be given to members who have never served as a Peer
Reviewer.

Information must be received in the IAAI Office no later than January
23, 2008 at 17:00 EST. Email information to iaai@... with AFG Peer Review in the
subject line.
Qualified applicants will be referred to the Department of
Homeland Security who makes the final decision. In the event there are more
than 36 applicants preference will be given to those members who have not
served previously as a Fire Grant Peer Reviewer. Should there be an excess of
36 qualified applicants a random drawing will be held.
