Arrangements set for fallen firefighter

The funeral for a firefighter killed when the ambulance he was driving
collided head-on with another vehicle has been set.
Funeral services for Capt. David Sherfick of the Brown Township Fire
Department will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Mooresville High
School auditorium.
Sherfick was killed Monday afternoon in an accident onIndiana 144 near
Mann Road. He will be buried in Washington Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
According to information from the Indiana State Police, the procession
will leave the high school, go south on Indiana Street to Main Street.
From there, the procession will go east on Main, north on Indianapolis
Road to Old Indiana 67, then east past the Brown Township Fire Station
to Indiana 67.
Then the procession will go north on Ind. 67 to Interstate 465, east
on I-465 to Washington Street, then east on Washington Street to the
cemetery.
There are plans for at least two Garrison Flags to be positioned along
the route.
The calling for Sherfick will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the First
United Methodist Church in Mooresville.
Also killed in the crash was James R. Hoskins, 45, Nashville, the
driver of the other vehicle. According to the preliminary report from
the state police, Hoskins may have suffered a medical problem that led
to the accident.
A second firefighter in the ambulance Sherfick was driving, Evan
Kirkhof, 22, Mooresville, was injured in the collision. He was sent to
Methodist Hospital were he was treated and released.
