The Associated Press reports that Ford Motor Co. says it is recalling
3.6 million vehicles related to the speed control deactivation switch.
Ford said the recall covers a number of models built from 1992 to

Yes, in Evansville a few years ago, it took six of these units (from Home Depot) in a 1000 sqft house to reach the explosive rangeand ignite from flame source about 22 feet way (Gas Water Heater). Not a lot of fire damage but bulged the walls similar to LP explosion (Low).

It sounds like you are talking about an aerosol container containing a
flammable propellent. There are generally warnings to extinguish pilot
lights within the area where the containers are placed.
I recently had a fire where I believe that the cause was an ACE
hardware Bug Bomb. The occupant set it by a Gas Hot Water Heater and it
may have ignited.
Has anyone else had experence with these Bug Bombs?
Thanks
Better get used to it this time of year, it is an annual event just like the hurricane & tornado seasons are in Florida. If you want fresher air I hear Indiana isn't a bad place for air quality!!!!
Miami has had it's fair share of the residual air currents and fire fog this week at the FL Chapter IAAI conference, but we smoke eaters can take it.
Hope you are settling in well Mike and good luck.

I found this link and thought it may be of interest to the Indiana IAAI
membership. Since I live in Florida now and can hardly breath due to the
smoke, I found little humor in seeing it.

You can contact Dave Milen, Ivy Tech Gary Campus. Sorry, I don't have

There will be an IAAI member meeting on Tuesday May 15th at 10:30 am.
The meeting is at the Cicero Township Fire Department,750 Development
Drive, Tipton County, Tipton, Indiana 46072.
I've worked two of these this week, both were 2004 models. Both were
caught early and extinguished. The fire damage was isolated at the
left side of the instrument panel cluster. The recalls #03V528000 &
07V092000 talk of overheating on the instrument cluster circuit board
which could result in an instrument panel fire. If you've had one with
severe dashboard damage, these may be useful.
I recently worked a fire where a Mitsubishi 50 - 55 inch big screen
television was setting on a front porch of a residence, up against the
house facing west. The unit was not plugged in. The person who
discovered the fire observed smoke and flames on the backside of the
unit, the fire was quickly put out with water prior to the FD arriving.
Examination of the television cabinet showed one hole burned through
the back approximately four inches in diameter. The residence had some
siding burned and melted though no real interior wall damage, no
circuits running in the area that would be a causative factor.
I took the front off to examine the interiior and found all of the
electrical components intact. The interior of the cabinet had multiple
unconnected burn/scorch marks inside at different angles. The greatest
damage was at the back where the hole was burned from the inside
outward.
I found no interior access areas or evidence that the front had been
remvoed prior to the fire. All evidence leads towards sun light being
concentrated or magnified as it entered the front lenses and caught the
interior particle board on fire.
Anyone have anything similar out there?
They
plan on using the current building for construction offices up until the last
minute and then will be tearing them down right away prior to opening the
hospital.

Food for thought
here......
I read this morning that Clarion Hospitals has purchased the practically
abandoned Deer Creek outlet mall near the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
(Noblesville) with plans of tearing the strip mall buildings down and
building a hospital on the property. Someone with the INIAAI chapter should
contact Clarion to see if that building could be used for fire investigation
training before the bulldozers take it down. It's a large building and
could offer many different burn scenarios.

Check with Tele-Lite Inc. who manufactures the generator/light
that you described. I beleive that I heard that they were
discontinuing the unit with the 300 watt light, but that they were
still manufacturing the units with lights from 500 watt to 2000 watt.
You can check their website at http://tele-lite.com or Tele-Lite Inc.
80 Lowell Street, Rochester, New York 14605 or phone 1-800-538-0022.
One of our fire investigators also runs a business called KAR
Fire Equipment in Elkhart, Indiana. His name is Dean Rentfrow and his
telephone number is 574-264-1786 or his cell 574-849-0074. I do not
know if he is currently a rep for Tele-Lite or not, but he may be able
to help you find a distributor.
Hope this is some help to you,

If a defense attorney wants copies of your photographs, have them
subpeona them. Otherwise they discoverable under the rules of discovery

For that type of request, it has to be cleared through our city
attorney first, with the proper request forms filled out completely.
You can refer to the digital photography training class offered
through the CFI Trainer, (IAAI). It is very informative on how to
handle and what to do for digital photography. Basically, it tells
you
to burn the digital photographs to a CD,and then make a copy from
that
CD. Lock the original CD and properly label, very important. I think
you need to refer to the trainer because it will inform you on how
exactly to handle. That
original is what the court will refer to and compare when the case
is
in trial, for any alterations. I would charge the the defense
attorney
for the cost of the materials used, such as the CD, packaging or
mailing.

Investigative Photos
I have been in the fire investigation business nearly 25
years and have never encountered a lawyer who would knowingly manipulate photos
(essentially fraud). My company often receives Requests for Production,
which includes everything we have. We provide 100% of what is requested
persuant to the request and subpoena. If the defense attorney does
something unethical, your prosecutor can bring that to the attention of the
presiding judge. If there is proof, the defense attorney would know the
consequences would not be good and I am doubtful he or she would risk their
carerr for the defense of the accused.
Notwithstanding that, you may want to contact the defense
attorney and tell him that you are having the photos developed at a local
processor and that he can pick them up and pay for them there. Make sure
that you maintain the CD on which they are stored.
Best of luck.

The Indiana Chapter of IAAI wishes to express our deepest sympathy to
the family of Upland Volunteer Fire Department member Sidney Hall who
was critically injured on Wednesday when a floor collapsed beneath him.
Firefighter Hall died as a result of his injuries on Friday.
"The family of Upland volunteer firemen would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of the fire departments, ambulance
departments, Parkview Samaritan helicopter, Parkview Hospital doctors
and staff who helped rescue Sid," said a news release sent Friday by
the Upland Volunteer Fire Department. "Sid was a valuable member of
our family and department and will be greatly missed. We ask that you
continue to pray for the family and the Upland firemen."
Hall is survived by his wife Bonnie and two sons, Chris and Matt.

The Madison Twp FD will be receiving an Arson K-9 in the near future.
