This is a reminder that the next quarterly Agora
meeting will be held this Friday, September 9, from
8:30am - 12:30pm.

NOTE: There has been a meeting location change. This
meeting will be held at the University of Washington's
HUB Auditorium. This is the Student Union Building on
the main campus in north Seattle.

Detailed campus maps, traveling directions and parking
information are available at:

This meeting is open by invitation to Information
Technology Security Professionals, Technology Experts,
Law Enforcement, Government Officials, and others
working in the IT Security field. There is no
pre-registration, just show up and sign in at the
door. All meeting discussions are confidential.

The topis is "The Status of U.S. Cyber-Security:
Troubling developments, serious concerns, and some
interesting ideas."
Speakers include:

Edward D. Lazowska, PhD, Co-Chair of the President's
Information Technology Advisory Committee, and UW Dept
of Computer Science & Engineering faculty member. Dr.
Lazowska will provide and overview of the PITAC report
regarding the security of the U.S. IT Infrastructure.

Kirk Bailey, CISO for UW, will provide a briefing
about the emergence of organized cyber-crime.

Michael Levin, US Secret Service Electronic Crimes
Task Force coordinator will visit from Washington, DC,
to update the Agora on ECTF's current efforts and
activities.

Col. Bruce Beebe has served as the Pentagon's Planner
for Critical Infrastructure Protection since 2002. He
will present "Eating the Elephant: A Strategic
Approach to CIP." Col. Beebe's expertise and
experience have given him uncommon insith and ideas
about how to deal with the complex challenges of
protection U.S. critical IT infrastructure.

welcoming these visitors from "the other Washington"
and having this opportunity to hear them speak.
