Hello all,

I'm starting to learn about USB and it's protocols. I am sorry to ask
all the newbie questions. Please don't be too hard on me.

I was wondering about On-The-Go or point-to-point for USB. Specifically
if I wanted to take a USB mouse or keyboard and convert it to RS-232 or
general I/O's signals without a host computer. is that possible?

For example, I want to see what a USB game joystick does and just read
the output position without connecting it to any end host.

I read there are single-chip integrated host and device controllers
that demonstrate the USB OTG functionality but does the USB device have
to be a USB 2.0 with OTG support in order to use some of these chips?
Will this be something I need to have if I want to do the above example?

Thank you.
