Brainstorming a Logo   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #537 of 848 |
Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but several days ago I sent around
some sample logos for my site http://www.exoticpublishing.com & asked
everyone to rate which one they liked the best that would complement
the web site.

#4 won just in case you were wondering LOL even though that was not
my first choice.

First off I thank everyone who got back to me. : )

Unfortunately those logos were not what I wanted to represent my site
b/c of their sexual nature & now the graphic designer is
brainstorming over some ideas none of which really grab me.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be much appreciated.

Here is what the site is supposed to represent...

1. It's a publishing site that offers unusual, unique or different
type of material. You probably won't be finding fiction on here.
More like manuals, maybe bios etc. Material you would be hard
pressed to find anywhere else on the net.

2. Knowledge is power, we supply information etc.

3. I want to portray the high tech "get knowledge at your finger
tips" concept b/c most of the manuals/products (sort of e-books) will
be downloadable although I can provide some of them in hard copy. To
get something that portrays downloading is hard & it was recommended
to stay away from a monitor or mouse b/c in 2 yrs. those things will
change as things become wireless.

4. The logo should not be anal, boring or concervative like other
publishing sites. It should be fun, enlightening yet, professional
in what it stands for. Too business like & stuffy is not what I want
to portray, but too cooky, strange or too hip isn't where I want to
either.

5. The font will be classy & scripty, but not too scripty so people
can't read the title. Here are some examples I myself had come up
with but haven't been used...

a. Pointed Brush

b. Airstream

c. Amaze

d. Formal Script by Jackie

e. Fortune City by Jackie

f. GabbyGauguinSH by Jackie

g. Gabrielle by Jackie

h. Ganto BT by Jackie

i. Garamond Italic by Jackie I like the 3 tone colours

j. GE Afresco Script Normal by Jackie

k. GE Amazonia Script Normal by Jackie

h. Gessele Regular by Jackie

6. There will be areas on the site that provide information for
adults only, but I do NOT want the logo to have any sexual component
to it. The title alone gets people thinking.

7. Writing is key here b/c I'm also trying to attract writers & what
do you sell at a publishing company? Written material. I was just
throwing out the idea of having a laser something writing on a tablet
or something, but that seemed a bit too biblical LOL & I don't need
anyone getting upset for no reason.

8. The logo has to fit into the already existing template (see above)
& I heard it's usually done the other way around.

The designer recommended waves of energy or a squigly line underneith
the name of the site like when you sign your name. Someone else
recommended a neron (whatever that looks like LOL) or the tree of
knowledge, but I'm not sure I like the tree concept b/c of it's size.

I don't know if I want to go with books b/c there are already books
in the template & that's so typical, but this logo will also be going
on a biz card & it has to represent a publishing site.

No globes of info worldwide. Everyone is using globes these days.

The designer thought a brain, but that's too big IMO & too brainy for
what I want LOL

The designer really wants to capitilize on the X in Exotic, playing
around w/ that & making it just a font driven logo, but I wanted
something more although I'm being told to keep it really simple, but
for me it's hard LOL

If anyone has anything to throw out there that could give us a
starting point, that would be great.

Please cc me directly at mich@... to ensure I
actually see your post & I once again thank you in advance for any
help. ; )

Have a great Sunday !!!

Michelle
