Preferred Consumer Parent Company launches Informiti Search
Engine
First to Let Users Choose from Five Different Search Methods
LAS VEGAS, NV - July 26, 2004 (INB) -- Net Visibilities, the
company that launched the Preferred Consumer network of 26
consumer information Web sites in July, has launched its
latest property, the Informiti search engine
(http://www.informiti.com). Developed to return transparency
to the increasingly complex (and ethically questionable)
search industry, Informiti is the first and only search
engine that allows users to choose from five search methods,
enabling them to know where their search results are coming
from and whether they are the result of paid placement.
Users who come to Informiti can choose from: 1) a complete
Meta search that searches all paid, spidered and human edited
results; 2) a "major" Meta search that searches just the
major sites like Teoma, MSN and Yahoo; 3) Paid listings where
advertisers pay for placement; 4) "Pure" listings based
solely on site content and ranking formulas with no paid
placement; and 5) Human, hand-edited results from the DMOZ
Open Directory project. This unique feature allows users to
choose the kinds of Web sites they wish to search and gives
them complete control over the results they see.
"Our goal in creating Informiti is no less than shattering
the current search paradigm," says Tom Chambers, co-founder
of Net Visibilities and president of Informiti and Preferred
Consumer. "We became concerned about moves by the major
search engines that blurred the ethical line between paid
results and pure results, so we decided to develop a solution
that separates paid results from true search results, putting
control back where it should be: in the hands of the online
consumer."
Like Preferred Consumer, Informiti will respect user privacy.
The site will have no cookies or toolbars, and will never ask
for user e-mail addresses or other personal information. "Our
only interest is in giving users search results they can
trust," says Chambers.
Informiti's recently launched sister sites include:
PreferredConsumer.com, a 26-channel network of sites offering
a vast selection of consumer information articles,
directories, auctions, links, shopping, coupons and more; and
AnonymousConsumer.com, a site dedicated to helping consumers
safeguard their online privacy and identity information.
