All,

I'm just learning UCM so forgive me if this is a simple question. I have a
scenario where I need to tie the Content/DocType to a particular Life Cycle each
time a user creates a new content item in the repository.

The DocTypes in our test system are specific items, like a IRS Form 1099, which
we know has a set retention.  We'd like to be able to tie the life cycle
systematically without the user needing to provide it. The hope is that items
are being retained as required based on the schedules and not what the user
believes is the correct life cycle. Is there a way to do this without needing to
set triggers, rules, etc for each possible DocType in the system?  I hope I've
posed the question in such a way that it makes sense. Any help or insight is
appreciated.

Hey Hi,

I'm in the same boat now. Could you please let me know from where you got that
GetFileNoSaveAs component for disabling the window pop up to save/open the
document onto the system

your help is greatly appreaciated...

Please let me know the steps/component that you have installed or how did you
solve this problem.

Thanks

What I would suggest (now) is turning on the cgi debugging options in the filter
administration, probably CGI_SEND and CGI_RECEIVE dumps should be sufficient.

Submit a doc update through the web UI, and look at the debug output. Then
submit one using IdcCommand and look at that output. Comparing the two debug
outputs will probably reveal what is different.

Hi Don,

Take a look in the IdcCommand reference for you question on the need of
LocalData declarations.

Down around page 2-4, there is a discussion about "precedence". In a nutshell,
variables declared outside a LocalData or ResultSet section are considered to be
of higher importance than those inside the LocalData or any ResultSet
declaration.

I would consider it better form to use the LocalData declaration rather than
omitting it. YMMV. I do know there is a concept of "stickiness" in some of the
applications like Batchbuilder, where once a variable is declared, until it's
redeclared, maintains the same value, and this value is reapplied. IIRC, using
LocalData declarations clear out that sticky state. But I could be
mistaken--it's been a really loooooong time since I had discussions that deep on
this topic.

We have implemented exactly this using a custom component. Our "OnDemand" gets
invoked from workflow steps and sends files out to different environments (dev,
system test, prod) based on approvals. We transform the documents to XML and
use FTP to deliver the files to the various servers (where there is a separate
process to handle incoming files and push them to the actual web portal).

Hello All,

We are moving off of a CMS that tracked/managed our links, which when we retired
pages or sections we could see what other pages are referencing the retiring
page/section so then we could easily go and update those other pages.

We would like to know if there are any componetns or "code" we coud write into
UCM to track references and help us prevent and find broken links?

Thank you for your help...

Thanks Don. I've tried it both ways. HDA format as well as txt format. Doesn't

the one giving me problems.

Hi, Greddin --

   One thought is that you've provided the HDA format, but the IdcCommand
example in the services guide looks like ...

IdcService=UPDATE_DOCINFO
dID=66
dDocName=test_000048
dSecurityGroup=Secure
dRevLabel=2

... without the @Properties line. I hoped someone who's used IdcCommand
would tell us more about the need for one, the other, or both formats.
Do other services run this way work for you?

   Good luck & let us know what you find out.

Don

Hi all:

I'm using the IdcCommand line utility from a command prompt. Below is a
sample of my idc command file. The only field I'm really needing to
update is the xTeam field. I don't get any errors. The log file says it
is successful. But the problem is that after the update, the
dSecurityGroup is changed to Public and the dDocAccount is empty. I'm
only including them because the service documentation says those are
required. Does anyone know why this is happening?

@Properties LocalData
IdcService=UPDATE_DOCINFO
dId=34534
dDocName=AP140345
dSecurityGroup=Projects
dRevLabel=1
dDocAccount=prj/PRJ0001934
xTeam=160
@end
<<EOD>>

Thanks.

Hi all,

    Any body has performance problem (about 5 times slower) in Content server
10gR3(10.3.3.3) in clustering configuration especially when open a site studio
page.

First i tought it because all the content server files, vault and weblayout are
located in SAN. Then i move everything in local folder but still have the same
problem. after some investigation i found that it because the use of UNC
(\\servername\foldername) in the intradocDir configuration in intradoc.cfg, even
though the UNC actually refer to local folder If i change this to use a normal
path (c:/foldername) then it works normally.

Anybody has any idea about this? as far as i know in clustered configuration we
have to use the UNC.

Thanks

You might try using the BatchLoader application versus IdcCommand. The
update file syntax (you can insert, update, delete) can be found pp. 7-8
through 7-14 here:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/
admin/managing_system_10en.pdf

This is the format I always use and it's never done me wrong. And the
batch file format is a tad simpler. The IdcCommand method was always
tricky. BatchLoader will also spit out an error file in the format of a
batch file with errors in the comments. The nice part about that is you
can see what fields have problems if they throw an error, fix them on
the spot, then run the error file as the batch file. Someone actually
thought about this one when they did it :-)

Best regards,

Chris

Thanks William for your reply. Yeah I had just mistyped dId in this
posting. In my command file it's dID. I wish it were that simple.

This one's really got me stumped.

Thanks.

One ticky-tack thing I see is the following:
----
dId=34534
----

It should be
----
dID=34534

It would be enough of a glitch to potentially cause problems, since column names
are case-sensitive in Content Server service calls.

Just wondering... why not just use archiver for this kind of operation? Seems
it would be a bit easier than having to gather all the extra data needed prior
to building the IdcCommand file for this operation.

In other words, there isn't much difference time-wise to do this with archiver

Hi all:

I'm using the IdcCommand line utility from a command prompt. Below is a sample
of my idc command file. The only field I'm really needing to update is the xTeam
field. I don't get any errors. The log file says it is successful. But the
problem is that after the update, the dSecurityGroup is changed to Public and

dRevLabel=1
dDocAccount=prj/PRJ0001934

Thank you for the response. That was helpful.

Now I notice that, when I run a query, CPU utilization goes to 100%. It seems a
little strange that one query would put that much of a load on the CPU. What
happens when there are multiple queries going at the same time? No wonder
queries are slow.

Hello there,

Using Web Parts product, can content on Content Server be moved to SharePint
Server (not unlinked from Content Server)? If yes, how? I need to share contents
in both directions.
Is there any component (custom or not) to do that?

thanks

As per the documentation:

"The Web Parts product can only be used with SharePoint Portal Server
2003 and Content Server version 7.5.2 and later."

But you should try to integrate the webparts and see what happens. If
you run into any issues, feel free to post the full details of the issue
in the group.

You're more likely to find someone that would be willing to help out
solve an issue you've started to develop or research.

Hi Frank,

In the case mentioned, the image is contributable, meaning that the
contributor can select the image that appears in the banner. Hence the
reason it's in a data file and a placeholder and wcmElement() is used to
put it there. If you wish for it to be uneditable and permanently
assigned to the location, then your method would work great.

Best regards,

Chris

Subject: [intradoc_users] Loading static image from Site Studio 10gR4

Hi,

While looking at the Site Studio 10gR4 Sample site closely, I found the
banner (static image) was loaded through the following steps:

1) Page Template Placeholder:
<!--$wcmPlaceholder("pl_banner",
"placeholderDefinitionDocName=PLDEF_BANNER")-->

A region template(RGTMP_SIMPLE_BANNER_1) was assigned to this banner's
placehoder definition.

2)Region Template:
<div id="banner">
<h1><!--$wcmElement("Image")-->&nbsp;<!--$wcmElement("HeadingText")--></
h1>
</div>

The region template contains a wcmElement function that loads the actual
image tag from its the associated xml data file.

3) XML Data File: (pl_banner=000257)
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<wcm:root xmlns:wcm="http://www.stellent.com/wcm-data/ns/8.0.0
<http://www.stellent.com/wcm-data/ns/8.0.0> " version="8.0.0.0">
<wcm:element name="Image">
<img alt="Oracle Logo"
src="[!--$wcmUrl('resource','groups/public/documents/wcmwebasset/oracle_
logo_15h.png')--]" />
</wcm:element>
<wcm:element name="HeadingText"><p>Site Studio Samples</p></wcm:element>

</wcm:root>

The xml data file contains the final script that generates the HTML img
tag and its actual url link to the image file in content server.

Is this the best practice to load static images within SiteStudio 10gR4?

How about loading the image directly from content server? For example,
<img
src="<!--$HttpRelativeWebRoot-->groups/public/documents/wcmwebasset/orac
le_logo_15h.png" />

or loading the image from a site image fodler:
1) Create an "images" folder under site folder, and copy the image onto
it, like [Install]/weblayout/websites/samples/images/oracle_logo_15h.png
2) Use HTML <img> tag on page template or region template,
<img
src="<!--$HttpRelativeWebRoot-->websites/samples/images/oracle_logo_15h.
png" />

Thanks,
Frank
