Hi all,
This month highlights the work done by the Department
of Family and Community Services (FaCS) as part of their
intranet redesign. This clearly demonstrates how user-centred
approaches can be applied to intranet projects.
We also have not one, but three events coming up in the
next few months, including the recently announced
"Choosing the Right CMS" workshop and the brand new half-day
"Latest thinking in usability and IA".
[Apologies in advance for the cross-posting to
multiple lists.]
The new whitepapers:
* Case study: User-centred redesign of the FaCS intranet
http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/kmc_facscasestudy/index.html
FaCS applied user-centred techniques in the redevelopment of their
large Government intranet, and it serves as a useful model for
other organisations looking to tackle the same issues.
* Self-sufficiency in a CMS
http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/cmb_selfsufficiency/index.html
The requirement for self-sufficiency should be addressed by all
organisations looking to purchase a content management system.
* Have we seen the perfect intranet?
http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/cmb_perfectintranet/index.html
We are often asked whether we have seen the perfect intranet, and
our answer is no. Read more to find out why.
Related articles:
* Case study: Re-focusing the Hunter Health intranet

Review of the Hunter Health intranet, which generated a wealth
of strategic and tactical recommendations.
* Using narrative in a CMS tender
http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/cmb_narrativetender/index.html
Consider presenting requirements in 'narrative' format, as this
provides a more complete description of needs, and gives much-needed
context to vendors responding to the tender.
We also provide an announcements list, which will ensure you find out when
we publish new whitepapers. To join this, visit:
