[Inventor's club] Re: Update-Engine

Matthew Wagner

I find this idea quite interesting. However I am puzzled as to
the source of power you are using to generate the "termendous amount
of infared light". Is the only fuel you are using AIR? It would seem
to me that you would need a more combustible substance such as
gasoline to generate enough energy to produce the infared light as
well as move the cylinders through their cycles. Also the
temperature needed to cumbust air is above 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit,
what are you going to build your engine out of? How are you going to
keep your materials from fusing together or melting?
Are you modeling this after a regular internal cumbustion engine,
by replacing the spark plugs with laser emitters? What advantages
are there by using infared light insted of sparks???
Have you ever considered using your infared light heat source to
power a "stirling engine" or a Thermoelectric Generator? I can see
some possible space program interest in that. Also, perhaps using
energy emitted by radioactive powerplant by-products to help power
your infared light source could be an option and help offset the
power that your motor will have to produce. I'm not sure how, but
perhaps someone else on this mailing list may have ideas.
I don't expect you to give me your "trade secrets" or anything I
could use to run out and get a patent before you. However I believe
I made my questions general enough that you can answer most of them
with out worry.
I hope my comments prove to be helpful and I look forward to your
response and I wish you luck on your project.

Greg
