Hi, fellow Isometry users

I'm new and I want to know more about Isometry.

First about Terminology. Am I right that I have to build Terminology file myself? And can I use English > Thai terminology file interchangeably with Thai > English terminology?

Second, I don't understand much about TM. How it work/determine with segment of TM to be used? What's the purpose to have TM?

Third, when I save any file with Isometry, it will be in text file without format or chaotic order. Is there anyway to save it neatly.

Last, about some terms. I've seen the terms, clean and unclean file, from other CATs and translators. What are they? Is there any in Isometry?

Sorry for so many questions at once.

Regards,
Anton

Hi, I am new to use Isometry.
Can I jump directly, rather far away, to where I want to tanslate? Now
I am using [Ctrl+N] several times, actually hundred times, to jump.

Hi.

I am recently very busy and the developing of Isometry is slow now.

Now I decided to stop connecting to the Internet.
So the current mail address
kazuyoshitoshiya[a)s4.dion.ne.jp
will no longer be used.
I will accept email at
finitefieldisometry[a)yahoo.com
but the reply would be slow.

I will answer questions by means of this mailing list.
Please be patient till I check it at an Internet cafe.

Hello, everyone.

I made videos explaining a brief overview of Isometry in English.
It takes 17 minutes to see them all.
If you are not familiar to the use of Isometry, I believe this will help
you.

Hi!

I released a new version, 1.0.6.
"Add Source" is added.
And there is an improvement in preliminary TM search.

I'd like to show you my road map.
The most important feature is term extraction.
This is the same function as MultiTerm Extract and Phrase Finder (which
are TRADOS softwares) does.
I do not know what kind of algorism MultiTerm Extract uses, but I think
it is based on IBM Model 1 or 2, which is the most basic term extraction
method.
Phrase Finder uses grammar knowledge so it produces much better terms,
but it only covers a few languages.
MultiTerm Extract is purely using probability, I assume.
So it can be applied to any language, but the result is not so good.

I studied a neural network when I was a student.
I will use this knowledge for better extraction of terms, or automatic
aquisition of word/phrase alignment.
Last year, I was developing this system, and I got some good points
compared with IBM Model 1.
But they are not so big advantage, and neural network method takes much
time. These are the problems I have to tackle with.
I try to add this fuction within this year.
I believe that good term extraction enables CAT tools to get to the next
stage.

G'day everyone

This is an unofficial user mailing list for Isometry. I hope everyone
who joins will be able to help each other with questions or answers,
even if you're not using Isometry as your primary CAT tool.

Enjoy!
Samuel

PS I'm not a user of Isometry myself either, but Isometry seems to have
quite a bit of potential, so let's have some feedback!
