Dear Professor Ghayourmoradi,
Thanks for this message. I agree with you that scientific events should be
accessible to everyone.
But unfortunately in some occasions this is not the case. The matter of visa for
prospective Iranian participants was raised from the very begining of the
organisation of this conference, and we took verious measures to handle the
matter.

From the ISOSS side we tried our best to resolve the matter. Both the LOC and
SPC really worked hard through the foreign office of Egypt. Professor Ali Rejali
and some other Iranian colleagues know about it very well. However, the state
level matters are not in our control. Visa policy is a political matter, but it
affects all of us.

I am very sad that we will miss our reputed colleagues from Iran in this
important event. Hope the politics of separation would not affect us in the
future. But there is no guarantee, is there?

Best wishes,
Shahjahan Khan

Subject: [isoss] A complaint

Dear ISOSS members,
I am writing in order to express my dissatisfaction and complaint on not issuing
visa for Iranian participants of the 10th ICCS-X which is going to be held on
December 20-23, 2009 in Cairo. A group of Iranian statisticians, professors and
students had planned for participating in this conference and prepared their
articles which most of them are accepted for presentation, but unfortunately all
of their programs are canceled, just because they were not given visa.
I personally believe that when a group of statisticians are not allowed to
participate and share their achievements with others (which is the main purpose
of holding such kind of conferences) and until the time that these kind of
discriminative and unjust attitudes exist, the real scientific development is
not going to take place.
In the conference's home page it is written that this conference is open to all
people interested in the development of statistics and its applications
regardless of affiliation, origin, nationality, gender or religion, but I'm not
sure about it.
I hope it is the last time that scientific issues are influenced by other issues
such as political ones.

Hi Neine?

I think Biostat has not much application in Pakistan. If you are interested in then you must read "Biostatistics" by ZAR and Pearson's Edition. Its a green and thick book and very elaborated. It is very good for the biginners. I think you should take interest in Demography, Population Studies, Multivariate analysis, Statistical Packages and survival analysis etc.
These are very commonly used by researchers.
Anything else.
