I am Dr. Abdul Rahman Khawaja. I am a medical doctor and have joined
the profession of medical research recently. I believe that all the
medics should stop copying research and start real research. I think
if the statistics scientists " statisticians " help us in medical
research we can do better. I also want to offer that if any researcher
wants to start research I can help in finding a proper research
question.
Thanks

Posting Policy
All messages must relate, however slightly, to the objectives of the list.
Postings must reflect well accepted civilized manners, tolerance and respect for others.
Personal attack, criticism or derogatory comments on any individual must be avoided.
Announcements of conferences, workshops, new publications, and position openings appropriate to the topic of the list are allowed.
Advertisements other than statistical events, opportunities etc are not appropriate. However, a simple statement that offers a way to follow-up for more information on a service or product may be acceptable if it accompanies a substantive message discussing a
subject appropriate to the list.
Virus warnings are strongly discouraged.
All postings must be free of copyright restrictions that limit distribution.
The preferred format for list messages is plain text. Subscribers whose mail clients default to other formats such as HTML should configure them to send plain text when posting to the list. The total size of any message should not exceed 10k
Guidelines for Appropriate List Behavior
The following guidelines are offered as suggestions for how to best participate in this discussion in a
manner that will both contribute to the experience of all readers and also reflect well on you.
Say something substantial. Simply saying "I agree" (in so many words) or "I disagree" (in so many words) does not meet this guideline. Specific technical questions are, however, quite appropriate, as are brief answers to such questions.
Say something new. Mere redundancy will not convince an opponent of their error. Explaining the same argument differently in an attempt to make them see the light has not been proven to be an effective strategy.
"Getting the last word" is for children. We're all beyond the age when we should be concerned with being the one to end the argument. Just because you are the last to speak doesn't mean you won the argument.
Agree to disagree. The likelihood of convincing someone to change a strongly held opinion is nil. State your case, but give up on the idea of converting the heathen.
Take "conversations" off the list. When list interaction becomes two-sided (two individuals trading comments or arguments) it is a sign that you should take the discussion off the list and correspond with that person directly. If the discussion was of interest to the general membership you will see others
posting on the topic as well.
Remember that you are being judged by the quality of your contributions. No matter whether you are employed or not, or a certain age, or have a certain education, you can create a good professional reputation by how you contribute to a large electronic discussion. On the other hand, you can ruin your reputation even faster and easier.
NEVER send email in anger. Go ahead and compose a message in anger, since that may help you work through what you're angry about, but don't send it. Sleep on it. You will nearly always decide to not send it or to recompose it. There's a reason for that.
Be civil. Treat others how you wish to be treated. No matter how insulting someone is to you, you will always look better to the bystanders (of which there are many, I hasten to remind you) by responding politely.
Respect the rights of others. An electronic discussion is a commons. Your right to post ends at the right of others to not be insulted, badgered, or to have their time needlessly wasted.
No blatant ads. Using the discussion forum as a means of drumming up business is inappropriate. It is fine to refer to your organisation/services if it is relevant and discrete.
Trim Quotations - Please make an effort to trim the quotes you take from other messages.
Think before replying to the whole forum. Only reply to the whole forum if it is relevant. Reply to the individual concerned if the message is only of interest to them.

I wish you all good health and long enjoyable life
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save lives. Seriously! Please read:
STROKE IDENTIFICATION
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK. To SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
{NOTE}
Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999 immediately and describe the symptoms to the ambulance services.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
Organizers of ISOSS discussion yahoo group and Dear Fellows:
Its me, Sohail Chand, working as Lecturer at Institute of Statistics University of the Punjab, Lahore-Pakistan.
I would like to congratulate the organizers for starting a discussion group on statistics. It will be really a blessing for particularly the young scholars. It will provide us the opportunity to discuss our problems in statistical cocepts and research. I hope that the senior statisticians will quench the thirst of the young ones.
Best Luck to all.

Dear Br Suleman,
Salam.
Please see the attached document. I have made some changes.
Please talk to Dr Munir and others in the HQ of ISOSS and
finalise the document.
We need to send the adopted policy to each new member on the
list. Also,
it should be in the homepage.
Once things settle down, I wish to make a posting of general
invitation.
Regards,
Shahjahan

Dear Br Suleman,
Salam.
Thanks for setting up the group.
We need to come up with some guide line for members before we could
invite others to participate in the group.
Please have a look at other similar groups and the rules that they may
use so that you could prepare a guide line for us.
Regards,
Shahjahan
