What connection errors do you see? Which CRX version are you using?
Can you connect to the repository using a standalone RMI client?

It might be that the RMI service in CRX is not enabled, or that you
have some network issue that prevents the connection. Or there might
be a classloading issue if you don't have the same RMI classes on CRX
and the client side.
