Hi list members, i'd like to know if anyone has any tips on how to look for jobs using on line job sites? I'd like to know what you think? The reason why i'm asking is because, i can't seem to find the jobs that either fit my qualifications or the exact skills that i posess. I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
Hi list members, i've noticed that i'm starting to have problems with links that take me to job sites. They seem to not work for some strange reason. I would appreciate any information that any one else might have. Thank you.
Hi listers, I have someone who is in Physical Therapy program who needs

Hi list members, i'd like to know if anyone has had problems with performing job searches on different sites that result in some of the same job postings? I've noticed this, but i want to make sure that i'm not alone in this. I'd like to know the findings of other members, of this list. I'd like to know if some of you have found some of the same things happen to you? Is there a place where we can go and ask questions? is there a resource that may have some of the answers that we're looking for when it comes to looking for employment on line? I would appreciate any information that anyone has. Thank you.
What you describe as happening results from the fact that some of the sites
you are looking at aggregate listings. In other words, the website itself,
or the company that hosts or sponsors the site, may not itself list any
jobs. Rather, some of these sites look at other jobs listings from other
sites and simply republish those job listings on their own website.

Hi list members, i feel like i'm going around in circles when i'm using on line job sites. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to possibably solve this problem? I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
Hi, I know you have been having difficulties. Do you have a site that has been difficult and that we don't have to set up an account to view some of the problems you are experiencing.
If my memory serves me you have posted a few links but I didn't save them and I don't know if we would need to set up an account.
So if you can provide a link and describe what problems you are experiencing I will take a look.

Hi, did you get my message concerning the different sites that i went to in order to see if there is something i could do concerning the problems with a feeling as if i'm going in circles with on line job sites. I notice that when i try to specify my searches, there seem to be more jobs that seem to require more experience or training then what i've had up to date. I would appreciate any information that you or anyone else might have. Thankyou.

Hi list members, i'd like to know how can i better define my job searches when i'm using on line sites when looking for jobs? I ask this question because when i do a search on the career-network site, that some times no matter how i word different searches, i come away with the same results. As an example, if i use the words entry level before typing the words data entry or data processing or data processor, i seem to get the same results, but i don't know why this is? I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
have you attempted working with a recruter or someone who can assist you directly.
Web sights are mixed up with all sorts of features not intended for us the visually challenged! :)
Many times you can use a drop down menu to scan through the job listings that are available, but this is not consistent.
I also understand that in our current economic climate, many companies have frozen their hiring processes.
i would suggest you check with a Braille institute or state rehab in your area and get some of the assistance our country still offers us! :)
Good luck, it's really difficult out there right now!
Thank you kindly, Rick!

Yeah, and the sad thing is for me, they want to close my case by September. I went to school for medical transcription, but there's no work in it in the local area, and there wasn't before the recession either. It's going to be hard to get something with that education as it doesn't help much for other types of work.

The only thing you really have control of is your attitude! :)
People are looking for employees with a positive attitude and you just can't let the rejection beat you down...
There's always something out there...
I have a degree in Psycology, went in to sales 20 years ago, worked in sales for 9 years with my company and have been working with our top 52 customers in national accounts for the last 7 years.
My company laid off over 10% of our entire work force 2 months ago and is planning on another round in the next couple months, we initially had almost 300,000 employes.
Sometimes my mind tries to make me think negative, but what's the use of worrying when I just need to prepare.
Keep pressing forward with your dreams and remember these 2 things:
* Winners never quit and quitters never win!
* You have to make life happen for you, before it happens to you!
I've seen job listings sent to this list before and i encourage anyone with leads to keep sending them through...
Good luck to all...
make it a great day, Rick!

Hi list members, i'd like to know if anyone has had problems with trying to enter cell numbers when trying to complete an on line application? The reason why i ask this question is because I've tried to concact the company, and i've gotten no response from them as it relates to my problem that i've been having when it comes to the problem of entering my cell phone information, that they state is a required field in order to complete an application. If any one else has experienced this, please let me know. Could you also please post the solution to the problem that you found. I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.t
Are
you entering the information in the format that the page requires? Sometimes
they want you to type the phone number without spaces or with dashes or with
parentheses around the area code. Usually there is a sample of the format they
want you to use near the field. Check around the cell phone field and you
might find a sample phone number. If you don’t hear anything with the virtual
cursor, you might want to try JAWS cursoring around the field.
Good
luck,
Jennifer

Have you seen the problem that i discribed? If you can tell me something different, and i want to thank you for your suggestion.

I am having major problems using outlook at work. I am using jaws 10 pro and
xp pro. I thought I could just change a few things in the options in
outlook, which I have done in the past when setting up outlook express on a
new computer but I can't even find the options. Also I will be receiving
many e mails with attachments from my supervisor. I tried to open even the e
mails and it was impossible. I got a co-worker to look at the screen and she
said my e mils were open but jaws reads they are unread. I am looking for
some instructions on making outlook more accessible. If anyone has some
information or knows where I can find it that would be great. I did a search
on the FS site but most of the information I found didn't help.

Hi list members, i'm still having a problem with entering my ceeell number when i'm filling out a job application on sites like Career-network.com and careerbuilder.com. Is there something that i need to listen for? I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
Hi list members, i'd like to know if there is a way to narrow your job search when you are using sites like www.careerbuilder.com and career-network.com? If so, how because i've come away with the same results even though, in some cases, i've used different keywords in order to perform the job searches. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have. Thank you.
Hi list members, if any of you are looking for jobs online, and you go to careerbuilder.com, you'll notice that the site which seemed to at one time be easy to navigate in terms of doing a good job search using key words, is now harder than ever before. I'm not sure why this is but i've tried to do searches using the following: Entry Level Customer service and i also inclosed the keywords in "", but nothing happened that was satisfactory to me. I'd like to know what do you fello list members, suggest that i do? I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
Hi list members, i'd like to know if anyone has used i hire to find secretarial jobs in your local area, and if so, how accessible did you find it to be? I'm asking this question, because even though i've been able to do the search for different jobs, i have not been able to get more information about the jobs posted or what there qualifications or job requirements are. If anyone has used this site, please let me know what i need to do in order to apply for the different jobs listed. Thank you.
Hi list members, I'd like to know if anyone has heard of Elevate America as it relates to the use of an on line tutorial in getting certified in the use of Microsoft Office? I'd like to know more about this and does this really work well with jaws? I'd appreciate any information that anyone might have. Thank you.
Hi list members, i'd like to know what tools can i use to help make sites more accessible when it comes to the form fields that are not always clearly labled? I would appreciate any information that you might have. Thank you.
These are for information when creating websites so if you are creating websites there is a lot of good stuff there.
I don't know of any tools for improving the reading of websites.
I have seen you post many requests for help with certain websites and I have looked at a couple of them. Because there are so many websites and so many layouts it is necessary for a screenreader user to develop a variety of techniques for navigating them. I know some people are in the habit of tabbing through pages and in the old days this was pretty much the only method but that often just gives you labels and not a lot of information. With the introduction of the virtual viewer other methods can be used. I myself use the arrow keys the most so even when a field label is not actually attached to the form field you can often grasp the association by the layout. There is no tried and true method that works across all pages. you just need to experiment and develop your own techniques and read the screenreader help so that you can be familiar with all that your screenreader has to offer.

I’m trying to track down the name of a
piece of software I came across sometime in the past 6 months or so, that
provided an accessible interface between a IP (VOIP) phone such as the Mitel
5330, and a PC running a screenreader. Basically it would allow a person to
fully operate/control a complex, multi-line phone directly from the computer,
either speaking all information via the screenreader, or through its own tts
engine, (I forget which it was, perhaps it could do both). It would speak all
information such as caller ID, which line had someone on hold, ect.
However, for the life of me, I can’t remember what it
was called and I’m not having much luck finding it. If anyone knows what
I’m talking about, please let me know.
Hi list members, i'd like to know where there are employment opportunities for us that are accessible? I ask this question because i recently attended a job fair where i felt that the companies represented didn't seem to be open to those of us who are visually impared. If anyone may be able to give some information, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
Hi list members, I'd like to know if there are more job opportunities for us now then there have been using jaws? If so, where might i start looking? I went to a job fair recently but i found that there seem to be more sales jobs where you're required to sell something as apposed to the call center type of job where your job is to either take a customers information and let the customer know an account ballance or on the other hand if going in to collections the same would be true with the exception of making sure that you were able to make arrangements.
