simply, the world is hooked on the actions of its star athletes:
the Jordans, the Beckhams, and the Godzillas (aka Hideki Matsui). But why
is this? Why does the media care so much about the
smallest details in the lives of a few athletes? The reason is this: they
have transcended beyond being just athletes into bona fide
superstars in their own right. But does that mean any superb athlete can
become a media star?

Rob Urban is Senior Vice President of SFX, the largest sports management
firm in the world. Rob also played a part in what could be
called the Matsui Boom. Rob will give his thoughts on the careers of these
three athletes and what he calls the "storymaking" that
goes into creating superstars.

As sports management in Japan draws attention as the next "brand-building
